new ball
« on: October 17, 2013, 03:53:17 PM »
I know this may sound like a stupid question but i am looking for a ball that has very minimal hook yet still carries.  I have been bowling on some horrible conditions lately and nothing i have will stay on the right side.  If i try to flatten my shot out all i do is leave 10 pins

i am a right handed conventional grip bowler

any suggestions would be appreciated

Try out a 900 Global Desert Hook!  Should let you play right without having to flatten out your hand.

what are you throwing now? How are the ball(s) laid out? How do you throw the ball?

don't know what the pins and layouts are.  But i throw a marauder madness for when i want to go across the lane.  I throw a ascent pearl when i want to go down 3rd arrow.  I tried using my old ebonite ice and throwing it down 2nd arrow but that was what was causing me to leave 10pins

doesn't really sound like you need a new ball. You should try to make some adjustments, especially if you're in the pocket with the Ice and just leaving 10 pins. Carry is dependent on the ball's angle to the pocket. Try moving your feet left some and throw the ball right, trust the ball to make it back to the pocket.

I'm not the best at explaining adjustments, I just know how it works for me. Hopefully someone else will see this and comment on adjustments to make

Very surprised no one brought this up:
Are you leaving ringing (stoned) 10 pins or weak 10 pins. The difference is VERY important!

Willy .. I took a look at your profile and based on that I assume you know enough about your bowling . If you ask about a new ball you 'no doubt' believe that's the answer. I will tell you that I have bowled on the condition you describe in Senior leagues. I've searched for the right ball and just recently came across a MOTIV TRIBAL .. it's helping me .. perhaps you can look into it!

Joe, he has a Motiv Ascent Pearl and says he's having a hard time keeping it on the right side. The Tribal is a stronger ball. That's probably not what he's looking for.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I would look at a Natural, Super Natural or a Tank.  Go something Urethane.  Maybe possibly find something like a Taboo spare that has the core in it, just a plastic, no grip surface.
