New season, new shot?
« on: September 14, 2003, 07:17:32 AM »
The house where my couples' league bowls resurfaced our lanes over the summer. They were pretty burned up and gave a severe over/under reaction. I missed the first 2 weeks because of golf league, but scores seemed pretty good( I am the secretary ). This past Thursday, I got to try it out for the first time. Being it was a new surface, I took a Firehawk, a Spirit, a Thunderflash, and an old Columbia Red Dot that had an inch of dust on it from just lying around on my ball rack. I started off with the Spirit and couldn't keep it off the nose. While shooting at a 10-pin in practice, my old Red Dot hooked past it by a considerable margin. And that was with flattening out my shot. So a little light comes on in my brain. I know this is 2004. My Red Dot is at least 30 years old. I'll probably not be able to score with it. What the hell! Its a couples' league. I shot a 698 series and had the front 9 the second game. Carrydown( of what I have no idea ) gave me some problems the 10th frame and the third game, but a 698 with a Red Dot? Plastic?

I found out why our lanes were so dry. It seems the proprietor's brother-in-law can't hook his sanded particle ball, so they cut back on the oil on those lanes. So much for modern technology.
