Other things in bowling that need to be banned......
« on: May 13, 2014, 09:07:38 PM »
1)  Wrist supports.  These should only used as a training aid and not allowed in sanctioned competition.   Unfair to those who actually have strong wrists and hands.

2)  High tech bowling shoes.   Unfair to those who can't afford them.

3)  The use of throwing a reverse hook.  (Backup ball)   Unfair that these people have the option to use the other side of the lane if they choose.   (Like Robert Smith when he won the Japan Cup.)

4)  Excessive ball speed.   Everyone should roll the ball at 25 mph or less.   (Not everyone is a freak of nature fireballer like Eugene McCune).   Those of us that roll at a 'normal' speed are at a disadvantage.

5)  Any ball that thumps over the thumbhole on spare shots should be declared illegal.  Not everyone can roll the ball end over end and not miss a single-pin spare in over two seasons like Walter Ray.

6)  Any backswing that goes over the bowlers head should be declared illegal.   Most of us would dislocate our shoulders trying that.

So, everyone should use their thumb, wear house shoes, and gently stroke the ball up the 2nd arrow.   Have fun!

Ban rosin bags too.

It isnt fair that this guy with dry hands should have the same quality of grip as the guy that sweats alot, you should be a man and just bowl with the hands you have.

What about those fancy Underground ball returns?  It's like cheating.

Also, these kids don't even have the mental fatigue of keeping their own score anymore.  That explains the increased scoring.

That's how I earned money for pacman and space invaders when an adult asked me to keep score for them. They didn't trust each other I guess lol.....Boy that lamp was hot!!!

Are you serious or delirious?

Delirious?  Yep.

Just trying to be funny here.   If the governing body ultimately decides to ban no-thumbers & two-handers.... might as well ban everything else that's a little out of the ordinary.

What really bugs me is that I've seen no-thumbers and two-handers since the late 80's, so the technique has been around awhile.   But only recently has some guys been successful with it at our highest levels.   I believe that if Belmo wasn't kicking butt on tour right now, no one would really give a rip about it.

I had to ask because there are some real crazies here in NJ who have talked about banning many of the things you have mentioned.

Damn, you just brought me back to my youth. Did the same thing throughout my mother's league when she bowled. Although for me, I'd have to skip a week of keeping score because back then, if you were good at the game, a quarter could last you the entire night! Definitely not good on a school night for a 7 or 8 year old.

Anywho, back on topic.

Ban multiple balls. If you can't handle it with one ball for strikes and spares, you got a problem. Suck it up and figure out how to work with your ball instead of balling down or switching to plastic for spares.

Or, no more wax pencils in your pants after doing the laundry..

I say get rid of those damn tables and chairs in the bowling area.  If you can stand up and bowl,  you can stand up while waiting to bowl.

Hell just get rid of the pin setters.

Then we can go back to using the pin boys. Look we can even help with the unemployment problem, job growth.

Bowling doing its part.

Or if you're left handed, trying to write on the score sheet with the yellow pencils made it interesting sometimes as you would smudge the score sheet trying to write the scores down!

You know what should be banned??? Bumpers! Bumpers are the sole reason for snobby kids to become entitled to everything- even non bowlers.
Stop being the problem, and start being part of the solution

Let's just ban reactive, particle, and urethane equipment and only use plastic and rubber.

Miss Rose Marie of the old Hollywood Squares fame would love this, as I understand it, she loved to score the pin boys...  :P "Beware Ralphie, she's looking for you"!  ;D
