He won't be going anywhere.. He is the face of Brunswick and I am sure he is paid very well by them. He also does alot of behind the scenes stuff for them as well..

Not why not, but why?
Not in a bad way, but they are two different personalities and people.

If Parker left Brunswick, it would be a bigger shock than Ebonite moving their plant to Alaska, or Mo Pinel making a symmetric cored ball.

He will not leave Brunswick.  He is there number 1 guy and is a great fit for them.  He also matches up very well with there equipment.  He may not be as dominant as he once was but I would assume that has more to do with age and family life than I would the equipment or comapny he is with.  He is one of the more personable tour guys that I have met in a long time.

I have to agree with the last poster. Sure, I'm sure Parker could make any equipment look good, but he has no reason to leave Big B. He has put together a hall of fame career using their equipment, he is most likely paid very well for being their No. 1 staffer, and he matches up quite well with their stuff. Plus, it's not like he's falling apart on tour. He won a title not all that long ago, and he took the roll to riches. Is he as dominant as he once was? No, but I think that has to do more with age and off-the-lane factors than it does with what gear he's using. I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be cool to see how other gear rolls for him, but he simply has no reason whatsoever to make such a move at this juncture in his career.

He made three shows this year, four counting the Roll 2 Riches.  5 last year.  He's up there in points, too.  You can't say he's not performing with the current Brunswick equipment.  Like Barnes, he's got some TV problems of late, though his aren't quite as bad as Barnes'.

I saw a show from 1986 where he threw an Ebonite ball and had an Ebonite patch on his shirt.  That was the only time I've ever seen him with anything other than a Brunswick ball in his hand.  Jeff is right, Ebonite's more likely to move their plant to Alaska.

Parker was only dominate for a four year period between 1998-2002. During that time he managed to win 16 titles. Since then he has won two. In that same four year time period Brunswick was in charge of laying oil patterns down for the PBA. You make your own conclusions. I know mine.

GREAT post and I agree 100% if what you say is correct..

If it looks like fish and smells like fish, its probably fish.. LOL..

Not taking anything away from Parker, no doubt he is one of the all time best.. He is also an all around good guy for the sport of bowling.. He spends alot of his own personal time helping people learn more about the sport..

Me sayest Sundevil23 is a cynic and skeptic regarding many things.

I believe Parker looked incredible this year with the Twisted and I think he loves it!  I don't think he is going anywhere either!

i agree he should stay...he might dominate again with the new stuff....just stating sometimes you might need a change from time to time.  well i guess im a little crazy for wanting him to leave big b but hey....so heres another question has he behind the scenes tried diffrnt companies in his own free time?
if he has does he like it better than big b?

Hes been with Big B as long as I can remember. At this point in his career I don't see him going anywhere. Im sure he probably gets paid more from Big B than many people make per year, not including what he makes from bowling and whatnot, which is not much as we all no, Roll to Riches excluded.

He pays his USBC dues, why shouldn't he be allowed to bowl?

The USBC Open is a different issue.

One might also argue that the patterns were designed with Brunswick's equipment in mind and how it wasn't just PB3 that was very successful at the time.  Brunswick had a pretty substantial staff, including Steve Jaros (threw his televised 300 with Brunswick equipment) and WRW.

I do not believe that you can design a pattern that plays into a single player's game and excludes so many other diverse bowlers at the same time.  I would believe that the patterns might have been designed with Brunswick equipment in mind, or vice-versa.

I guess I must be the only one that has had bad experiences with Parker.  Also, he still bowls the NJ state tournament every year.  If the USBC Open does not allow pros

You're wrong. The USBC Open does allow PBA and other pros it only allows 2 or 3 per team. and they're allowed to enter 40 or 50 brackets if they want.

I beat Marshall Holman one year in brackets. So if I beat him, surely you can beat Parker Bohn.

quote:

the state shouldn't either.  I know its not his fault, but he doesn't need to load up on brackets so almost no one has a chance against him.

I thought we'd been through this before. He only entered 10 if he were going to "load up", he'd have entered 30. Besides, isn't he entitled to do that? There were lots of great bowlers at the states, ones even more familar with the lanes than he was.
