I don't think partical is that popular anymore but I always heard that Lanemaster has the best partical balls around to where the particals won't wear down after resurfacing but as far as strongest out of them I could not tell you.

I like my LevRG for heavy oil.

I tend to agree. It is the strongest but you better have a LOT of oil or a LOT of ball speed! seriously!!

if you are looking for a, "particle" ball, then take a look at brunswicks bvp mammoth. this is a high-load particle solid....the most aggressive coverstock brunswick has ever put on a bowling ball. it comes from the factory wetsanded 400 grit which is great for oily lanes. i've used this ball as dull as 220 grit for oily synthetic lanes and i've also used it finely wetsanded( 2,000 grit ) on a fresh house shot. this type of finish is great for lanes that are wet/dry.

keep in mind that particle also gives a different rolling characteristic than plain reactive.

I have not the big experience (had not so many bowling balls like others here) but for me my actual particle pearl (Track Machine) on our oilier THS is doing a wonderful good job. (smoothes out over/under as long as the lanes don't get real dry)

But one thing is true:
particle wears off faster - particle needs some more maintenance

I see no problem about a resurface! The particles are so small a normal sanding process does not "destroy" them but the actual wear and tear of normal use does which imho means you need to "refresh" the surface more often.
(for me it means I rub my 1000grit slightly dulled Machine every 100 games off with a 1000grit pad - by hand - to just take off the top and damaged particles.)

But that is all off topic...... sorry

Bottom line:
Particle gives another look on the lanes and some people it helps - especially when lanes get spotty or carrydown is a problem.
I had issues with particle balls (Track Arsenal particles balls - but the drilling was the main factor those two didn't work back then + my ignorance and) but tried it again and am happy right now (let's see how long the Machine keeps working)

imho ... my 0.02

Finally, remember that the surface prep mostly defines the ball's reaction and utiliy. Particle can be helpful if you need control and eraly traction - but different manufacturers also follow different philosophies, and particle load, size and material also play a role.

Personally, I am a big fan of light load carbide type particle balls for oily shots and carrydown. Grayson is correct, you get a different reaction on the lane than with a pure strong reactive - and I like the more arcing, slightly earlier traction of a particle ball when things get soupy, but with my style I do not need lots of "spike" support. I was (and am) a big fan of Brunswick's Eliminator, which is an utterly strong piece, esp. with some more surface than the shiny Trizact OOB finish.

Every serious player should have at least one and maybe two particle balls in their arsenal with one of them being a particle pearl. Particle is a totally different reaction and they can be your best friends on flatter, tougher, tournament type patterns.

I use a PP on the Cheetah when the volume is medium because it is softer on the back end of the lane instead of throwing itself left when it encounters friction. I can take the same PP and flatten my release and square the lane up to go up the boards on lower/medium volume Viper type patterns.

Good particles to have in the bag are Brunswick Sidewinder. This ball is special and not very visible in many bags until tournament time. Another is the Storm Secret Agent. This ball can handle more oil and stays online very well.
