PBA Miller High Life Open
« on: October 19, 2003, 08:16:16 PM »
The PBA is on their way to Hawthorn Lanes in Vernon Hills, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago.  As usual, I'll be spending quite a bit of time at the tournament, since I work in the pro shop in that center.  If any of you are going to be there at any time during the week, I would enjoy seeing you and becoming acquainted or re-acquainted.

As you already know, I too will be working during the PBA Miller Open.  Hopefully it will be a great opportunity to say hi to a few of our online bowling compatriots.  I'm surprised that you didn't post your monster 828 no tap pro-am score.  By the way, remind me again, how do you shoot a 283?????

Capt.,
That would be 830 - please get it right!

Front ten, Greek church, 8 out = 283 - whoo-hoo!  BTW it was completely different from a teammate of mine who once had the front ten (legit), followed by three off the right and a spare for 283 - d'oh!

Kris,
It is definitely open to the public.  There is a cost for admission.  For Friday, the cost is $14, which is good for the whole day.  The schedule for Friday is:

10:00 AM  Round of 64 qualifying (9 games)
After the 10:00 AM squad is completed, the field will be cut to 32 bowlers.
6:00 PM   Round of 32 match play (best 4 of 7 single elimination)

I hope this helps.

Kris

yep, $14 and you're in.  If you are looking for additional info, try the www.hawthornlanes.com site and follow the links to the pba miller open info.  They have more info on passes to thurs, fri, sat squads and the sunday finals.  Hope to see you there.

Rick,  sometimes it takes a while for the PBA to post the PTQ results.  Will you let me know how Chris Johnson, Tim Pinner, and Tim Mack do?

Thanks,
Hose

Kris,
Jimsey is the man!

If you still have questions after going to the Hawthorn website, let me know and I'll try to answer them for you.

Hose,
I'll be going over there shortly, and I'll try to remember to get a standings sheet for the PTQ when it is over.  In any event, I'm making a note of your three guys and I'll check them out when I get there.  I'm sure they'll still be bowling, since they didn't start until 1:00 (Central - it's 3:30 as I post this).

I probably won't have access to a computer today, but I'll get back to you tomorrow.
Rick

Check it out now.
The main man Tim Mack is top of the standings.
Shocker!!, we always knew how good he was after seeing him this side of the pond.
Hope he keeps it going.
