PBA style match play against Mushtare
« on: August 01, 2006, 01:08:38 PM »
Would you bowl Mushtare a scratch best of 7 against him? No prebowling jokes here, straight up you vs him. Oh, and you have to bring 1,000 dollars and he'll bring his. Would you gamble a grand against him. Don't mistake him for being a bad bowler because he is far from that. But are you confident you can beat him?

Lefty,

Your logic is incredibly flawed between golf and tennis that it continually serves as a function of just how far you are reaching to defend this cheater.

When comparing golf's major winners to tennis' major winners, please keep in mind that golf is ALWAYS played on grass.  The bunkers all have sand in them.  The holes are all the same circumference.  The only things that may change are the ambient conditions.  The tennis majors represent 3 major differences.  Australian and US Open are hardcourt, French is on loosely packed red clay, and the Championships (Wimbledon) are on essentially, putting greens.

You are harping on and heaping praise on a one-trick pony.  Using your logic, then I can unequivocally say that Larry Mize is the greatest chipper in the history of the Masters, bar none.

Sounds outlandish, doesn't it?

YOu are are bright guy Baccala..

But this is getting into the stupid range for you!

Masters...in the past always wide open fairways with hidden risks and incredibly fast and tricky greens.
US open tight just like the US open in bowling...only the straightest hitters could win.
British OPen...variable conditions...run up golf, rock hard fairways and low shots dominated.
PGA...unknown...US open courses with wider fairways.

Tennis
Wimbledon, grass
US open hard court
Australian..hard court but different and heat
French Clay.

Bowling wide open...sport ...WTC ....US open.

I am not really on this thing about Mushtare's 900s.  I just get a kick out of people..."OH...I'll challenge him(I heard he just did bad on sport) ON SPORT!"

Of course you will.

I admire the comments of JOrge300 about bowling him at his home house.
NOw I just want to hear the car purr!
Someone!  Anyone?

For 6 or 7 months I have been wanting to see it!  I eagerly awaited the Tim MAck /Mustare match with no real prediction....I just wanted to see it!
Disappointment.  None of this post is relating to his claims of 900.  I just want to see someone bowl him on his wheelhouse....for FUN!

Gentleman...start your engines!

I'd bowl him home on home.
It would be fun.

I'd like to bowl him a 20 game match, $100 a game.

I bet I would outlast him, and maybe outbowl him.

Wonder if he would give me the difference in our ages in pins?

Lefty,

My point was that you are tooting the horn of a one-dimensional hack, akin to my saying that Larry Mize was the greatest chipper in the history of the Masters.

We have a guy who claimed to do one thing (twice for those of you that buy into that dreck) in one location.  Let's see....Thomas Muster (winner Roland Garros 1995) vs. Roger Federer.....you choose the surface.  Who would be most confident in with your 100 bucks on the line?

Your saying that my argument encroaches onto the stupid range is a major red flag that someone painted you into a corner that you can't get out of or dispute the point raised to you.  My argument was (when reading "outside the lines") that it is very difficult to justify the alleged greatness of a questionable one-time result and the person who performed to obtain this result.  Can anyone say Floyd Landis?

My Larry Mize comment sounded like the rabid fandom of that guy in the bar.  You know that guy.  The guy in Chicago screaming (even today) that the 2005 White Sox are the greatest team ever assembled.  Yay!!!  One result!!  Your constant defense of this cheater honestly bewilders us.  It sounds like a close cousin of the Stockholm Syndrome.  You sat with these steadfast, honest people at JOGs and your defenses have intensified, identifying with those who singlehandedly are bringing the credibility of the sport we love right down to their level.

I am just wondering since you have detailed the wonderful conversations you have had with these pillars of all that is right........did you ever invite any of them to join us in the discussions here?  I'm sure Bobby Beautiful has heard the snickers and sneers in his hometown and at JOGs as well......did you provide him the forum and venue where he could address us?

Our respect could be earned very simply.

If you can find anywhere on this website where I have said Larry Mize was a great golfer...or ever even mentioned his name in a post except above...Get back to me.

There are horses for courses.  Bowling Robert Mustare where he has proven in one experience to be like a fish out of water is certainly something the experienced sport condition bowler would like to do right now!

None of my remarks above are relating to his 900 claims.  NONE.

I just want to see SOMEONE...ANYONE go bowl him in HIS wheelhouse!  I don't want to see him struggle like a guppy on pavement(I've seen that) I want to see him in his wheelhouse...find the keys!

We've been hearing boasts, claims, rants, accusations, "I"m going" we hear..."wait till I go there"! for 7 to 8 months...still NO KEYS!

PERIOD....someone...please find the keys!  I don't care if you bowl him for coffee!  Find the keys!  Please film it and post it here...I'm not even saying he is going to win!  Find the keys!
Anyone have any keys around the house that start your car??...please point it towards CArthage NY...it's lovely this time of year I hear!!?

As the radio article about him says there arnt enough zeros in the probability of him shooting those 900.  The name of the game is carry even if u go dead flush into the 17th board at 60 feet it doesnt mean crap because of stone 8s.  If he shot it y didnt he shoot the gold survivors.  It was on a wide open house shot were numerous 300s were thrown.  He doesnt have the game to back up his mouth.

What DP3 said.....
--------------------
Judge: Please tell the court your name....

Me: The SuperHitMan.....

Judge: On accounts of claiming to be "Good at what you do" and "bowling and carrying  well with hand" how do you plead.......

Me: Guilty

Judge: Before sentencing is there anything you would like to say to the bowling court.....

Me: I'm not sorry that every bowler that I do not bow down to and praise them like they are gods because I don't say that they are better than me took my confidence as cockyness, and people that don't have hand that down talk people with hand are idiots that includes you to Judge Nohand

Judge: Bailiff get him out of my court room

Tommy Jones: Let me guess your in for "bowling and carrying with hand" right?

Oh I disagree with that!

There are shots that favor Walter Ray's A game(tight accuracy contests).  And other shots that are not so favorable to him.  The fact that he has won on his B game, and maybe C is a testament to his superiority.  Don't believe Robert Mushtare will not get better on sport shots...of course he will, how good or how much better I have no idea, championship material...??? I truly don't know.  But does anyone really want to bowl him on his A game?!  Right now?
Some do...those are the fun matches I want to see!

Only the greatest in the game can win on all conditions!
The VERY greatest.  Ie...even the incredible Tom Watson never won a PGA and I still consider his US open victory an absolute wonderful statistical anomaly!
That is why in golf when the 4 majors used to feature dramatically different conditions only 3 players have completed the professional grand slam!  The same applies in Tennis...Roger Federer no french opens along with Pete Sampras!  Absolute greats...dominated 3 majors...not 4!

All pros know this ...there are horses for courses!

REGards,

Luckylefty
PS Mike Durbin in his great book on bowling(title) talks about this quite a bit! I believe he is quite a student of the game!

I think it depends on the longevity of what we consider great. But making challenges or competitions are not limited to what someone is good at. They are made up by random. If I walk into a bowling alley I've never been to, I have no idea what to expect, the same as a golfer does when he plays a course he's never played before. I think anyone can be good if they are kept in their element(as Mushtare was when shooting 900), but if you take them out, that's when you really see what kind of player they are.

Lefty, why don't you get your own keys and go bowl him, tell how good he really is. I mean if you could beat him on his own house shot, would you still be defending him so fervently?

And all this "get the keys" crap is so childish. Most of us a grown adults with jobs and family, yet we should just drop everything and go bowl this freak show ( and I say that not in regards to him or his ability, but what it has become in the bowling world). You bowl him for $1000. But what about the added costs, of a plane ticket or gas for a car, hotel, and you go there and his Dad won't let him bowl, so you've wasted all that money. Are you going to reimburse us for that? Why don't you offer to pay for someone to miss work, pay their expenses so that you can have your little match? You claim to be such a great businessman with many successes, but YOUR money where your mouth is and pay for someone to go there and bowl him. And since you are so friendly with the Musthares you can make sure he shows up to actually bowl whoever you send. If you aren't prepared to do that, then take your "keys" comments and shove them.

keys="car keys"

You see ...for 8 months the statements have been coming!

"If I go there I'm going to throw 900 too!"

"If I go there I'm going to throw my first 800"

"If I go there I'm going to beat his little..."

"If I go there I'm going to stare him down and make him admit..."

The thing of it is...eight long months...NOTHING! Nada.  Zero..  Zilch.

If I could count the puffery fo statements on this site it must count over 300 of them..."If I go there.....".

ME....I'm not going to go there and bowl him for money on his shot!  You think I'm nuts....the guy is an animal!  You will see no puffery from me regarding beating him on his home shot!!  Their ARE horses for courses!

Next time I start averaging over 250 on my home shot for a protracted period of time...maybe I'll puff up!

BUT....none of this has to do anything with whether he has shot 900 or not!
Not one bit!

The suspense is killing ME!  I thought Tim Mack and he were going to bowl a set...a couple of sets...OH I thought that was great...I wasn't sure of the outcome but I was excited about watching a young power bowler against a world recognized power bowler.  Now if they said they were going to put on a spare making expedition...not so exciting.  Or a sport shot exhibition(YAWN).

Sort of like in golf...IF someone said...want to see an exciting match.
How about John Daly vs Hank Kuene...Guess what...

"And here we are golf fans ...we have an exciting match for you today scheduled for today's pay per view...we've got it...what you were waiting for...
John Daly...Hank Kuehne two of the longest hitters in golf engaged in a chipping and putting contest"...ME..."yawn...boo"!

I want to see strikers strike.  I'm over the waiting.  Much like when you were in school...a bully comes up to you...."I'm going to kick your butt after school today".  Me...I was too impatient for that.  "I'm available NOW...could we get started NOW!?"  I hate to wait.  Was that a prediction!? NOPE!

300 claims I estimate...8 months...no one has gone there(except Tim Mack for a few practice balls together(disappointment)....I hate to wait.  Please someone great who lives there or near there...go up there and show us a match on the shot they put out for the 900s!  I JUST want to SEE something!  Someone find their keys!!!!!  ANYONE!  Someone in the big hands club!  Let's see some striking!

I can envision a series of match's like this.
Titled "Welcome to Robbie's House!".

HEre are my favorite matches.

1.  James Hylton...tell me you couldn't promote that match!
2.  Tim Mack(I really like that guy after seeing him in the piece this weekend)
3.  JAson Couch...wow...that's a fun match!  Match play master.
4.  Rudy Revs!!  WOW!
5.  Ryan Shafer..his part time coach who I like!
6.  Jeremy Sonnenfeld!
7.  Pete Weber!
8.  Patrick Allen

I think these would be so exciting! and high scoring.  NO PREDICTION who would win!
