Meeting fellow BR posters and bowling...post your experiences
« on: January 02, 2005, 04:59:01 AM »
Had the chance today to meet up with Rock77 (Ryan) and bowl with him for 3 hours at his home house, Holiday Lanes in Somerset, MA. It was a nice 90 minute drive for me, a great 40 lane wood house that was playing hard probably due to the cosmic bowling from the previous night (and who knows if they reoiled). The midlanes were hooking like crazy inside of 8, and there was a decent amount of oil outside of 5...

We had fun trying all of our equipment, playing different lines, talking about everything related to bowling and we traded off beating each other a game at a time (we got the chance to get 8 games in...). He made a believer out of me with the Xception, what a great medium oil ball that is, great explosion at the pins.

Now I've had the pleasure of bowling with two BR members (R-Zitro in Kentucky and Rock77 in Massachusetts)- who have you had the pleasure of meeting and bowling with from this board through the years? Tell us some of your favorite stories...

Matt

Ih8stupid10pins (Matt S.) has become a family friend.  Though he's never posted regularly, he used to review balls semi-regularly.

As the mighty Ragnar stated, I drove to watch him bowl in a tournament about a year ago. When I walked into the house, I didn't know where to start looking. Knowing him to be a giant, I looked for the guy who stood a head taller than the rest of the bowlers. Yup, that was Bob.

Our league secretary posted here a few times last fall but I don't think he is a frequent visitor. He uses joebowler1961, I think. We bowl on the same team in the men's league.

Wes, you know I have you by the balls when we bowl against each other. You just know it. hahaha j/k.

Nick, shut up. You know you like Dashboard Confessional, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, and the rest of those emo-rock bands we all love.

I also have had the pleasure of meeting SrKegler in Las Vegas back in summer of 2002 at the old Showboat, while Scott Scriver was running the site.

Three others, including Magic Carpet and two others whose online-names I can't remember.  It is always nice to meet people who love bowling as much as I do.  Magic Carpet is a very good coach if you ever get the chance to work with him.

As Joe said I have met with and enjoyed bowling with the following: Joe Falco, MagicCarpet,Thinkyoung,Strider,ThongPincess,BoyToy I think, and I bowl with and am good friends with Straightup7 every week at our home house.  Hope to attend in NY if its possible and meet some more of these fine people.  I saw Pin-nut at the State Farm doubles but did not introduce myself.  I know a couple other lurkers on here personally as well.

I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.

if im still in the bay area then also im always busy on weekends(work, family, school)..and thus makes it really tough and thus is why i only bowl one tourny a year or so and that one weekend in reno(southern pacific, you cant just walk in and enter, you have to be invited form someone who bowls it regularly or subs a few times)

we'll see though

nick i didnt know i was only going off what i previously read and i do remember you being up here a lot.

I bowl my Monday leagues with Rocket, very good guy and fun to bowl with.  I've also met JeffRevs, MichiganBowling and Mojo.  All are good guys who I'd love to sit down and bowl with anytime.

I hope to bowl with LuvsthatWhiteDot sometime soon, and anyone else who has some free time!

Have met Bob Hylka only for a moment and KSUCat, at ABC nationals. Cat and his dad are super nice people and Cat has got a beauty of a game. I also met Magic Carpet and cannot voice enough how nice, and giving this man is. He is also a great teacher and I wished i could have stayed a few days to work with him. I know quite a few lurkers from my area and a few from the Huntsville area. Wish I could meet more as all that i have met are class individuals.
