Reads the Midlane......
« on: August 21, 2005, 01:27:32 PM »
Aw right guys.....

At the risk of sounding downright stupid.....I'm gonna throw this out there any way! We use this terminology alllll the time. So what the heck does it mean? vs a ball that doesn't read the midlane?

Does this mean a ball that doesn't check-up early?
Does it mean, no roll-out?
Or does it mean, you won't see the ball-core standing up halfway down the lane,
prematurely?

With a ball that "reads the midlane", what happens when the midlane is dry?

NL got it right.

In certain situations you want the ball to read the midlane, meaning start to pick up a roll before it gets to the dry boards.  I like a midlane roll on flying backends and of course the soup.

Generally when you say that a ball reads the mid lanes, it means that it "revs" up in the middle part of the lane. A low rg ball will get into a roll sooner than a high rg ball and will read the mid lane better than that of a higher rg ball. A higher rg ball will skid farther down the lane before it starts to grip onto the lane and hook,
