Once again, Bones adds clarity and reasoned commentary to a post. I know as a "wrong-sider", I have run into many a situation where I have won a tournament or bowled a big set and had more than one righty say to me, "you should win, it takes no ability to throw the ball left handed", as if I have a remote control in my pocket. I would NEVER tell another bowler they won on anything but their skill if they beat me in a tournament, and I don't care which hand they bowl with, I just shake their hand and tell them good job, and I will try harder next time. Are there times when the left shot holds up better, sure I'll agree, and are there times when it is nice to not have to deal with 8 or 9 other guys slopping up the lane, I will agree with that completely. But, it is not always peaches and cream on the left side either. There are plenty of times where I need carry down, and I am the only guy doing it, and by the time I have set up a good line it is frame 6 of game three! Also, when the lanes are tight it can be miserable trying to open them up by yourself, but during the course of the bowling season, those instances where I have an edge and the instances where I struggle seem to even out, so I don't worry about it. I feel bad for righties having to bowl across so many tracks and types of equipment, but I can not control that, or the fact that I throw on the other side of the lane, which is something I will never apologize for, ever. I just hope that others take the approach that you should always congratulate those who win, respect the accomplishment, shake their hand, and try not to cut them down for what they have accomplished, just based on which hand they throw the ball with, because I am sure you would not want to be treated the same way. Just me .02
