more cons i dont use inserts in my spare balls to cut the revs and after bowling a 8 gamer you can forget about bowling league .. it hurts lol. i think i have maybe 8 games max in my fingers when i dont use grips ... but other than that i like it.

My spare ball...no inserts, other 3 ...inserts. Reason ?

My fingers will or can swell almost half again the size. With inserts, I leave room on the top of the insert for expansion. Not sure if it's better or not, more a case of "have to" than anything else.

I don't use grips.  I found the same pros as John did, except for me, the revs/speed actually increased because I had a cleaner release.  With grips, I just hung up in the ball too much.  I guess my fingers are naturally tacky or something.  But when not using grips, you have to make sure your finger pitches are right otherwise you'll feel it and that might throw you off.

I am now using no inserts with no bevel. After I got my span and right it only hurts when I release the ball wrong, and with no bevel you really know when your release is wrong. I don't suggest this for everybody but I love it. I would tell you that if you are going to do this make sure you have a good driller, I drilled a old used white dot like 4 times before I got the span and pitches I wanted. And as far as being able to hit the ball I get as much if not more on the ball now, before I was using contour lipped grips.
