I use my spinner about once a week.  From everything I have read the abralon pads sound wonderful.  But I buy the wet/dry sandpaper from online industrial supply.com.  Prices are good and I believe the sandpaper is almost as good as 3m.

I personally think that sandpaper is too abrasive unless starting to resurface.

What's the difference, do you have something against sandpaper?

An abrasive is an abrasive - 800 grit is 800 grit no matter what you're using, as long as they follow one of the standards.

FYI Abralon pads use the same abrasive as wet/dry sandpaper: silicon carbide. SO it's as aggressive as sandpaper.

Abralon is much more expensive but has the added value of the foam backign that helps hold water.  When you use "plain" sandpaper, it's best used with a household sponge, damp/wet, used as a flexible backing for the sandpaper.

Sandpaper comes in every grit up to 2000 grit, starting around 40 grit.
Abralon comes in limited grit: 360, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000.
4000 is the only grit that sandpaper does not have.
Common wet/dry sandpaper comes in these grit levels: 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 & 2000.
