Shift and Backrows
« on: April 08, 2007, 10:16:42 AM »
I recently purchased the shift and left it OOB. I have the drilling above the ring finger and key to the right of my thumb hole. I am a 210+ average bowler in 2 houses in my area. In my first uses of the shift I shot 692, 695, 698, 654 and 782. After the 782 things changed. I went from hitting the pocket light, burying it or leaving it high, and carrying almost everything. In 15 games I left 6 ten pins and 2 7 pins, no other single pins. My last 12 games have been a bit different, blasting the pocket shooting 552, 533, 617, and 601. Leaving 34 ten pins, 15 seven pins, 7 or 8 nine pins and a few 8 pins. And of course leaving 4's or 4-9's on high shots. The shot is the same and I'm playing the same area. I have the same thing done to my ball after every outing. Has the ball already lost something? It still seems to hit just as hard, just not carrying nearly as much as before. Again less than 30 games on it. I move right, left, back, forward, swing, down and in, same results. It seems as if anything in the back row can be there on a good shot. Any Ideas?

Join the club I have been dealing with crappy carry all season long. I would try moving a half board left after you find you mark it will force the ball to expel a little extra energy before it gets to the pins resulting in the pins staying lower on the deck and not jumping around as much. Hope it helps.

Yes I have it polished before I use it every night. I've moved as much as 15 boards left and changed my speeds. Seems as if the shots I really flush in there, are just 10's or 9's standing there. I've even on one night having real bad carry,  thought I threw it perfect, hit perfect, left a 9, a pin comes over and hits it, as its going down another pin hits it and stands it back up just wobbling around. Very Frustrating, even the 220-230 average bowlers were giving me tips on where to move and I did just as they said and left something each time, they just looked and shook their heads. Its hitting with a lot of power not many weak 10's. At the beginning of the night I throw over the 10-11 board out to about 7 and it roars back and 10 pin. If I get it farther out, wash out. So then I try to go more direct, turn my feet a little to the left and fire the same line, 7 pin usually. I mean this is the toughest house to carry in the association. Yet I do have a 300 there. Anyway, I move left and left and left and still corners, thank god I'm a great spare shooter. If I can get some more decent tips, I'll take them with me and use them when I practice tomorrow night.
Again Thanks for the feedback.
