I don't see the difference, actually. The person buying the ball is at just as much risk as the person selling the ball. What if the seller wants the money up front, and the buyer sends the money only to receive no ball and no refund? It's different if the person has been a longtime user that you know isn't going anywhere though. Whether I'm buying or selling, I always like to send the money or ball first as kind of a gesture of good faith. I might be dealing with a first time trader who's worried or concerned, or with somebody who's been burned before, so I like to make sure I come through quickly on my end. I've been burned before, and I'm sure most everyone else has too. I sent two balls to a guy, and had to ship one of them twice because a guy he was in another trade with was supposed to get one of my balls, but he backed out, so it was returned to me, and I had to ship it to someone else. Never got a thing from the guy I was dealing with. I sent another ball to someone, and when they got it, they decided they didn't want to pay what I was asking, so I knocked a fair amount off. I'm in a deal right now where I sent a guy $155 for a ball that UPS destroyed (lol, that's still kinda funny regardless), and it's been over a week since he told me he'd send me a refund, and I haven't heard from him since (though I'm pretty confident I don't have anything to worry about). So like I said, it's an either/or type deal. Again, I don't see a difference.
