Shoe quandary / search
« on: January 24, 2019, 07:09:13 AM »
Greetings;

I'm lost in the no-man's land of shoe size. I wear a 12 1/2 and am left handed. No manufacturer makes half sizes above 12 so I'm always searching for a brand that runs small or large so as to buy up or down. There are no brick & mortar stores where they have lots of choices to try.

The only shoe I've found that fits is a Dexter SST8, black-gold. They no longer exist (and the toe keeps separating...I may just glue it and make it permanent). Is anybody else in this situation? Any advice on what runs big or small? Hammer? Brunswick? Other Dexter?

Ordering and returning over and over is a pain at both ends but might be my only option.

Thanks.

So this probably doesn't help but my buddy wears a 13.5 and he owns a pair of SST6 in 14 and they fit like a glove. YRMV

Dexter currently offers the SST 8 Pro.  Should be similar to the SST 8.  The SST 8 Pro is for both right and left handed bowlers...interchangeable soles/heels on both shoes.  The only drawback is that the SST 8 Pro reportedly is not a good choice for bowlers who severely drag their toe.

Another option to consider is asking your Pro Shop to order in a few pairs.  Try them on at the shop, buy the one you like, the PSO should be able to return the others to his/her distributor/supplier.

I've had my pair since the SST8 Pro came out. There is some wear from dragging and the front corner of Velcro doesn't stick but has held up a lot more than the TPU-X did for me.

I see the SST 8 Pro lasting at least 3 years for me

While I'm LH, I have wide feet and the Hammer Force shoes fit like a glove, but for some reason they did not offer the wide slide soles.
They helped me out.
Wide LH bowling shoes are a unicorn for most companies.
Let me know if you don't get anywhere, I think I have contact information for someone there who could help
