Why do users/members continually use the indvidual ball companies forums, for selling balls etc. ???

 We have a Wanted/For Sale Forum why not keep using that and stop cluttering uo the Ball Company Forums !!!!!!!!!!

I like the general rule of posting in the correct forum, for sale goes in the for sale forum, Storm topics in the Storm forum, hot women looking for men pm'd directly to me, etc, etc.  I see that as the easiest solution?

I agree.. sales forum are are sales...  company forums are for product discussions, questions, comparisons, etc.  I like the idea of a "standard" post in the for sale / trade / buy forum.  Any way to make a "Standard" form to fill out in order to post in the w/fs/ft forum?  In that form, you could include an option for eBay auction as well.  It would help out with searching when looking for something.

I realized about a week ago, that I was spamming...Not really realizing it.
I notice some of my auction posts disappear. Subtle hint?

I will no longer spam the individual ball forums. I think the balls sales forum needs some revamping...

I have noticed this however, we don't have a rule directly against it and until now, you guys haven't seemed to have an issue with it.

I think the best way to handle this is for all of you to post your feelings on the issue.

If enough seem to feel that we should be more active about making sure sales-related posts only go in sales-related forums I'll be glad to do what I can.

Note: pnj1967, I edited the thread topic to be more clear on your question so that we can get more posts concerning the issue. Didn't want you think I was editing your post for no reason.

I would like to see the wanted/selling boards to be company specific also.

Im going to disagree for the simple reason that there are 100s of new For Sale posts every day...making it very easy for things to bet pushed pages back. Unless you bump your topic a couple of times each day, it gets overlooked. Part of the beauty of this website is for people to talk, buy, sell and trade bowling balls. Thats why its really here, isnt it ? If i go to a manufacturers page and i see a topic that doesnt interest me, i just dont read it...simple. Not everybody visits each forum. If i have some balls of a particular brand to sell, it makes sense to post it in that forum. Businesses dont only advertise on one radio or television station, you have to do what it takes to reach more people

Not trying to argue here, just think the way the For Sale section is set up, you cant limit where you post things

You said "If i have some balls of a particular brand to sell, it makes sense to post it in that forum."  I disagree with that.

 If people would list the ball brand on their title for the post that would be better!!!

 And also ONLY use the For Sale Forum

First off, I agree that if a ball is for sale,trade, or even a ad looking to buy, then it should be in the wanted/for sale section ONLY.

Now, I would also like to see the wanted/forsale section upgraded. It should have subcategories for different brands of equipment and also categories for specific ball weights. Some people throw 14lbs. some 15lbs. and others 16lbs. It would make it alot easier to go straight to the weight class you are looking for. Also have a category for shoes/apparel, bags, polishes/cleaners, and maybe proshop equipment. This would all clean the forums up and make it alot easier on everybody. Just my opinion.

Sounds like some good ideas here just a couple of things

@JeffCarter
I didn't see your post as argumentative. I asked for everyone's input here because this isn't an issue that I feel has to be made one way and therefore anyone that can give valid reasons or ideas is more than welcome.

The only type of post that would be argumentative or problematic would be "YOU CANT MAKE TEH PEPLE WHO WANT TO SALE THERE BALLZ ONLY PUT STUFF IN TEH FOR SELL FORUM!!!!! THAT SUXXORZ!!!"

@DukeHarding
I'm not aware of any of your posts being removed however they were pretty far reaching therefore they could have been removed by another mod. I'll check around to be sure.

It sounds like the best way to continue this will be to break FS/FT into vendor-specific subforums and draw up a new set of rules for how to post in those forums (Title must include FS/FT/WTB/EBAY, NEW/USED, Specs, Product Name) so that we can hopefully have easier to understand posts (e.g. "WTB NEW 15lb Fury" or "EBAY USED 9.5 Dexter SST6LX"). Sound like the right direction here?

I'm still in shock that there is someone with power here AND has a sense of humor.  BR-Tech, keep up the good work and yes, those ideas sound good.  The biggest thing in the For Sale forum as Mr. Carter pointed out is that topics get buried so fast users have to "ttt" them every couple of hours to avoid being sent to page 5 or more.

I'm in agreement but that only works when you have 1, maybe 2 items. For multiple items you still have to have a generic title to cover a vast amount of items. That's still better than having 10 different posts for 20 items.

As for the Lane #1 guys, they seem to live only in that forum so I see why someone will only post Lane #1 items there. As for these sellers who only post in ball company forums, they are losing potential sales for not advertising in the correct market (forum).

I'm getting a little of tangent but I can't stand when people post a title like;

"Used 16 pound...."

only to click on it and find out that it's a P.O.S. 15 year White Dot with a cracked bridge! There is no reason why the seller can't put the whole description into the title.

Balls for sale in MFG forum does not bother me.

However, if it the wishes of the majority to limit sales to the "For Sale" section, then that section should definitely be divided by manufacturer. It is rather difficult to find what you want using the current set-up. I do not even look in the "For Sale " section anymore due to the high number of entries that do not pertain to me (and cannot be identified as such without opening them).

Not that it matters either way, but is the Bag/Accessory forum for discussion for FOR SALE itmes.

Do you post BAGS for sale in the Bag forum or the For Sale Forum?

Vendor-specific for-sale forums might make it easier to find posts for equipment you want, but would make it a pain in the butt to sell multiple balls from lots of manufacturers.  A general for-sale forum in addition to the vendor-specific would just duplicate most of the other posts.

Simply standardizing the format for for-sale posts, including company and ball names and ball weights would go a long way.  The forum is searchable through the Search link, so weeding out those posts about equipment you're not interested in would be simple.
