SrKegler
« on: June 19, 2003, 05:30:29 PM »
I am not sure how many of you have gotten the chance to meet SrKegler, but I just wanted to tell you all something so that maybe you can make a better judgement of him from it.

I have only been bowling just two years.  I have bowled in our city tournament once and couple local no-tap tournaments and things like that.  Well with this knowledge still SrKegler, Nicanor, Thongprincess, and Rick Wunder bowled the hoinke with me.  They all helped me more than you can imagine.  The truth is I bowled terribly the whole time we were there and they never complained once and just tried to help me as much as they could.  Not to slight any of them in this.  I would welcome any of them into my home without hesitation great people.

My story on SrKegler is this.  During team I threw a dismal 489, but is was a triplicate 163.  I won 75 dollars at the hoinke for it (yes thongprincess it was bagging cause I am a cheap bowler) and never thought anymore about it.  Except the ribbing I took from my buddies here back home.

Well I got a letter in the mail the other day.  It was from SrKegler.  He said in the letter that he got to thinking about it and figured that since I had been bowling such a short time that was probably my first triplicate.  He didn't want to see a good dead go unnoticed so he was sending me the triplicate patch.  Enclosed in the envelope was the triplicate patch.

We cut down the silly tokens ABC passes out a lot, but you know what.  No matter what I win in bowling I don't know that it will mean anymore than that patch does to me.  It was a great gesture by an even better person.

I think that has been something I have lost sight of on here in the past.  I get so focused on the words on the screen that I forget we are all people and we are all bowlers.  The best thing though is the quality of people here.

So, if you see SrKegler thank him for me.  If you ever get a chance to bowl with SrKegler, Rick Wunder, Nicanor, or Thongprincess do it.  Great people everyone of them.

Thanks for reading.  Guess I was hoping by lots of people thanking him along with my thanks he will see how much it really meant to me.

Andy

Great post from a great person to a great person.  Many get caught up in the money and have forgotten about the fun and fellowship that our sport brings. I echo your comments.

I didn't get to meet Nicanor, but I met SK, Rick and TP and I heartily endorse eveything card79 has just said.  Quality people who I believe are a credit to this site, to bowling and to the human race.

Card you did just fine.  Each time you bowl a tournament it gets easier.

I completely agree Rick, Nicanor, Sr Kegler and Card79 are all great people to bowl and socialize with.

Mike, if there is any way you, the wife, and Victoria can make it to St Louis it would be great to see you again.

As for Sr Kegler, I'm sure he doesn't want anyone saying any of these things, but he is a great guy.

First, he volunteered to have me ship any additional equipment to him for the Hoinke.  He knew I could only take 4 balls on the plane.  I shipped him 2 more.  I gave him money to ship them back and with the balls was change.

Second, he and his wife graciously offered to pick me up in Indianapolis for the ride into Cincinatti and back after the tourney.  He refused to accept payment.

Now remember I am a lefty and Sr Kegler hates lefties.  So for him to do all this for me shows what a really nice guy he is.

As for all the wonderful people I've met at gatherings, I would love to have all of you come to my neck of the woods.

Kristi Bahr and I will have the pleasure of bowling a tournament in early August with him, and this just makes me more anxious for it to get here!

Thanks to everyone for the platitudes.  To be honest though, I do have ulterior motives.  Over the past few years I was so obnoxious and cocky that I’ve alienated all the bowlers in the local area (Il, Mo, Ind).  This year for the team at the Hoinke I had to recruit 2 from Ca, one from Ohio and one from Chicago.  I was simply running out of people to bowl with, especially with the decline in ABC memberships.

What's the deal Sr...are you giving new meaning to Single Member Organization in your area?

But yeah, I can agree...if you are ever anywhere within about 1000 miles of SrKegler, I think he tries to make it over there
