Static weights......................
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:23:48 AM »
Has anyone heard of any upcoming regulations from the USBC to remove static weight limits?Again,I'm being told this at the pro shop I use.Unfortunately,it's under new management due to medical issues of the owner.
This is also the same person who tried to tell me that there is now a policy from the ball manufacturers that you MUST drill all finger holes a minimum of 1" from said holes, else the ball company will not honor a warranty claim if there's a cracking issue.
My opinion is that he doesn't want to take the time to properly lay out a ball and is trying to simply do a volume business due to the fact that a fair amount of bowlers don't understand PAP,static weights, etc.
Proof of this,if you will, has come at my expense. To wit:
I bought a Cell used from another BR member.I took it to him for plugging and redrill.I told him what drilling I wanted. He asked if I had an old drill sheet on file, which I did,and let him know this. After I told him what drilling I wanted, his response was that for drilling the ball with that layout,MY PAP DIDN'T MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!
Now what I have is a Cell that's flaring 6-7 inches, yet wobbles down the lane and is inconsistent in it's performance.Since plugging again would result in a 3rd drilling with all the problems of relocating the Cg and mass bias,I'm pretty much resigned to waiting till tax time to get another ball.
