the deep in side line
« on: July 10, 2003, 06:54:57 AM »
how many of our viewers routinely play/favor the deep inside line( left of the 5th arrow )? i praciced at my house today and lane 15 hooked like never before( and i mean NEVER ). lane 16 was typical for the middle of the day---swing 12 out to 6-7 and back. i played my monster frenzy between the 5th and 6th arrow out to 10-12. this is FAR left of my comfort zone as i almost never have to play there. however, it was good practice. more side turn was required to ensure length. a miss left was brooklyn and a miss too far right was hook out and quit. all in all, i fared better than i though i would and it was a learning experience.

The Power Groove is not really 2 degrees lower than the Smash/R.  The Smash/R reads the lane, but is way smoother at the breakpoint than the Power Groove.  The only thing that is lower is the price tag.  On dry lanes, the Power Groove is uncontrollable.  I figured the Power Groove was going to be more like a Cuda 2000, but it reads the lane much earlier.  If you want something for drier conditions, I would recommend something like a Hit by Storm or maybe a 2 Piece Stinger.  If you want to go Brunswick with this, maybe try to locate a Purple Pearl Fuze.  That was probably the cleanest Brunswick ball as far as getting down the lane I have ever thrown.  Otherwise, Brunswick is not known for developing equipment for dryer conditions.  Balls of choice for dry are Hit by Storm, Low Flare Stinger by Ebonite, Scout/R or Urethane Scout by Columbia.  I hope this helps you out.

I will talk to my pro shop guy next week, but I must say that the only reason I tried the 15lb polished smashr was because an ex pba pro who also drills  my bowling balls told me to try changing the surface of something I have already before I go out and buy another ball. since the ball is 15 pounds I naturally throw it faster. and by polishing it I thought I could get more length out of it.I throw the smashr closer to 18-19mph. The first time I tried it everything worked great. But i left the ball in my trunk once or twice and a lot of oil bled out of the ball. That may be why it lost so much hit on the lighter condition. Thanks for your input and I will see what my pro shop guy has used in his shop next week. He suggested maybe a Viscous pearl or Deisel reactive pearl. Do you think these would be too strong?
