There is SOMETHING about a good bowler!
« on: November 18, 2003, 05:58:00 PM »
For a couple of weeks now I've been going over to a center where they have one of the top leagues in the area.  (all new to me).

The first few weeks I went someone pointed out one of the best bowlers in the area for about 20 years.  I'm like, hmm???  Not many revs, not much speed, not really anything to see.  The guy looked at me and said, "I know I know!, but don't bowl him!"

Now a few weeks later I go over and see his average is up a little from a rough start and it looks like he's going to go 750 this night before I leave.

Still not really anything to see.

What is it that these guys have!!?  I guess it is sort of like Pete Rose, not really a talent of the body but a talent of the mind!!!

Some guys really have it!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS other guys have all the talent of the body all of the hand someone could have and they STILL just don't have it.
It takes Courage to have Faith, and Faith to have Courage.

Very true Lefty, some people do JUST HAVE IT....however, it really does help when you bowl at the same house for 20 years

Yep. I know several of our local hall of fame members (performance category), and they all fit that description. "few" revs, sometimes unsteady approach, etc. But I consistently have the misfortune of drawing them in brackets.

And on the side topic - give me an ego or a temper in my opponent every time. If it's the ego, geez - these guys HATE to be beat by a woman. All I have to do is throw a double at them (hopefully really light swishers, or a brooklyn ), and the match is MINE.
