We've just heard, on another board, news that we have a hard time believing or fathoming.  If anyone has any knowledge would you please message me.

I had the privilege of meeting Colleen at the BR Gathering in Winston Salem on a couple different occasions.  I bowled the mixed doubles tournament with her the first year I attended and we came just short of the cash.  She was always laughing, always having a good time.  The fact that she has crossed over seems so surreal.  So unfortunate a loss for the bowling world and the world in general.  There will be no other like her.

Colleen, you are already missed.  We shall pay proper homage to you at this year's Gathering.  Shall we now call it the Thong Princess Bragging Rights Tournament?

Rest well, dear.  See you next trip.

Blessings all.

WOW!
A very loved and well respected member of this site and the bowling community, and I'm sure, without a doubt, respected by all, everywhere.

You will be sorely missed Collen.  Regardless of how well you bowl up there,...it WILL be perfect!

Prayers and condolences to the family

Colleen was a fixture at both Mission Hills and Corbin Bowls. Her enthusiasm for bowling was infectious, and she's probably a major reason many juniors are still bowling today.

My prayers and condolences to the family.

I started several times to post something here but every time I tried my eyes teared up so bad I could not see the screen.

Colleen was a very special lady to everyone that knew her. She was not a great bowler (like many of us) but that never stopped her for one second from trying to get better (like many of us). She loved the sport and loved the people playing it.

Thanks to the internet she had friends spread around the country and maybe even the world (like many of us). She did not think twice about sacrificing other luxuries so she could buy airline tickets and hop a jet to meet any of us anywhere (like a few of us).

She enjoyed helping others love the sport of bowling as much as she did. Her passing hit me particularly hard because she worked hard finding me a location in the Los Angles area to hold one of my clinics. The clinic will be held next month and I was looking forward to seeing her.

There is no doubt that she was the “Mother Hen” of “The Gathering” like only one of us.
She was usually the first to arrive and the last to leave even though she lived 2500 miles away. I don’t think she missed a single year. I vow to keep having the gatherings as long as possible, but they will never be the same without her.

The good news is Heaven is getting a dedicated bowler maybe she can get on a team with my parents.

Great post by one of the really good guys from this site about a very well liked lady!

I share the waterworks problem.  Who else did you look for first when you went to the gathering?  TP!

This outpouring on Colleen's behalf is proof that we all probably leave a bigger "footprint" on life than we really know. Many of us only knew her through this site, but were/are still touched by her example and enthusiasm for our game.

The best way to remember her is to treat each other a little better.  What are we doing so that we can be remembered in a positive way? Bowling is something we all seem to love, but it's not LIFE.

Have a great day everyone, and next time you roll the ball get a strike for Colleen!

Colleen has been posting on this site since I joined. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, somehow I feel a connection and a loss. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Wow!!  I haven't been on the site that often recently, and this is the first post I've read....Unbelievable....Colleen - you will be so missed!!  She was a great lady and as good a friend as you can have in the internet world!!  I was fortunate enough to spend time with her at the 4 Gatherings I was able to attend.  Now, more than ever, I wish I could make it to this year's event!!

as is often said during times like these...no one is promised tomorrow...and to make the most of your time with everyone you meet.

TP definitely did just that and she will be greatly missed by more than she would have ever imagined.

My prayers go out for her family and everyone that is touched by her passing. God Bless.

I've been on vacation since April 1, and just now found out about Colleen.  What sad news!  I am in shock!

Like the rest of you, I "met" Colleen on BallReviews.com.  Eventually, I met her in person at the first of the annual gatherings in NC.  Like Toma, I was her scotch doubles partner (there were always more men than women, so the men had to share).  Since then, I've seen her when she has visited the Chicago area, and I ran into her at USBC Nationals in Reno in '07.  She has bowled on my Petersen Classic squad in July the past three years, and she was set to bowl again this July.

I will miss her, and the bowlers on my Pete squad will miss her.  I plan to have a moment of silence for her before starting the squad this year.

I offer my condolences to her family.  I hope that they have been reading this site and see how many lives she touched.

RIP Colleen

I found out the same way (thank axewldr for letting us know).
Gosh...where to start...

I met Thong Princess the same way many of you have. Her screen name brought to mind all sorts of crazy images. Curious enough, I (like many of you) sent her a message asking how it came to be. The response I received from Colleen had me laughing for days. You could tell right away that it was a story that had been told many times. You could also tell that it was a story she enjoyed telling. It was a great ice-breaker. You knew right away that she was eager to open up and let another friend into her life.

Fast forward a few years...it was summer of 2008. Colleen talked me into attending the Gathering in North Carolina. I had spoken with Ron Clifton a few times via email and also once by telephone while working out some pitch changes. Otherwise, I had not met anyone that would be attending. I am not the most outgoing personality at these kind of events, so it's not the easiest thing to talk me into attending. Colleen assured me it was a great group of people, and I would have a good time. Of course, she was right.

Shannon (my wife) and I made the drive from Ohio to N.C. We arrived a bit early (Ron may remember that I am the Clock Nazi). The next person to arrive was Colleen. She came right over, introduced herself, and conversation just flowed from there. My wife was worried she would not have anyone to talk to while attending the Gathering. Colleen erased those worries immediately. She treated us as if we had been friends for years. In short, we had a great time and are glad we made the trip to meet everyone. Without Colleen and her efforts, I am left wondering how future Gatherings will match up to our first.

In closing, I will just say that Colleen has left her mark on me. She has left her mark on BallReviews (and other online forums). She has left her mark on the bowling community. She left her mark on her students. The lives she has touched are many and widespread. That is her legacy.

To Colleen's family: You are blessed to have been a part of her life. Enjoy every day you have in this world. Make many friends and enjoy your time with them. That is what Colleen did. That is what we should all do.

Rest In Peace, Colleen.
