What size is normally used an 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" or dosen't it matter. Is there any advantages of using 1-1/4" over 1-1/8". Thanks.

I think the common size is 1 1/4. I use a 1 3/8 myself because I like it as beveled as much as possible without beveling the ball itself!

I'm exactly the same...

But there is no "Standard" thumb insert size, whatever works for you is the right one.
