To EVERYONE thats ever whined about L#1
« on: January 23, 2009, 12:24:47 AM »
Map pricing has ended, so prices are now VERY much in line or LOWER than the top of the line stuff from other companies.

Go out and buy one and see for your cheap selves now.

There is a difference....

LOL, the stuff isn't that complicated. Common sense would show that the diamond core is nothing special.

Neo: For someone supposedly as smart as yourself, you lack that 'common sense' you're so convinced you have.

Throwing a Cobalt Bomb (probably sporadic at best) does not qualify you as any kind of authority on the diamond core. Actually, the Cobalt uses the Dirty Bomb core with a Mini Diamond Nugget, which gives a completely different look from the standard Diamond.

If you haven't thrown a couple of saws for some period of time, then you're clueless regarding what's special and what isn't.

Actually you are right.  I looked the Buzzsaws and that core is slightly different.  However, their balls still cost too much IMO.

Neo: Let me ask you this -- If you throw a line of balls that you believe gives you a better look than the alternatives, is that worth paying a few more bucks? If so, what would be your tolerance? $10?, $30, $50?

If it's easier, think of this in terms of another line besides Lane#1. I'm curious about your take on this because everything comes down to some kind of cost/benefit analysis.

Confused,  On the Elite site, some have posted saying that Elite Balls are P.O.S.,   What does this mean?  P.O.S.

Does it mean they have good pins or MB's?

BTW,   are Lane I balls still selling for $259 and up?

jls: As a proshop operator, you should know better than to ask a question like this. You should have access to sheet pricing from your distributor at your fingertips. Regardless, I own 15+ Lane#1 balls, and I've never paid $259 out the door, not even with drilling.

It depends no how I value it.  If it is a new ball, I won't go beyond much more than a top Storm/Brunswick/RotoGrip ball that I can get easily for under $140 and that is with drilling, fingertips, and all.  I see no reason to pay more than that for Lane #1.  Especially when you got balls like the Cell going for under $100 easily on eBay brand new.

Of course I am the one with both Helix's and I paid big $$$ for those

I'm not sure you answered my question in the context I asked it, but I'll try to interpret.

What I'm hearing is that you're price dominant. If you're convinced that a certain ball/line might give you a edge in brackets/sidepots/tournaments, you're still going to pass on it if you can't get it for lowest common denominator internet/eBay prices.

Interesting thought process.

Sorry, but my dist.  does not carry them.  And the last time I checked my price was either $179 or $189.

Now I think they have come down slightly,  but They are not offering 4 for 1 deals.   So it's about the same.

Buy 4 at $179 or $189 and get one free,  now I think it is just $144.

And btw,  they were indeed selling for $259 or higher, especially if you bought the guarantee.

I tried a Uranium pearl a few years ago. Traded for it only had a few games on it. It did not match up with my game. That doesn't make it a bad ball but... The same basic core shape all these years? Lets try something really new!
