Tournament Thinking

Was wondering what everbody is thinking doing a tournament because I find myself alittle tight and sometimes need a drink to get things rolling..

Lets say you in tournament and its your turn. You go through all your normal motions but somehow your ball jumped and left you a split.. During practice you was killing the pocket but now it real and it seems all the oil spots you found or gone... Keep in mind everbody else is striking but you...

You should go through the same preshot routine that you do during practice. Practice helps in tournaments. If you dont practice like you intend to bowl in tournaments then practice isnt helping. Practice is where you can work in mentally preparing yourself for a tourney. Put some pressure on your self. Imagine possibilities and how you react to them.

By doing this you will be able to stay loose in tournaments. Pressure is mostly mental. Its because we think we have to score and make shots when its just bowling. Thats why practice seems so easy. Its because theres no pressure.

First off work on your english because reading that post was like watchin Springer.....and if you have those kind of issues you should probably stick to the leagues at your local center because serious bowlers have little to no nerves but the normal person will always experience some but after the first ball all is gone at least for me it is.

Well a couple things you can do is
1.) try multiple parts of the lane with different balls and get a feel so u can jump to a different area if ur first look goes.

2.) Watch others and see what part of the lane they are playing. If u seem to be away from everyone else and are not Chris Barns or Norm Duke u need to get where they are at.

Yeah. "Better find an adjustment soon..." would be my first thought, if I can tell that the split came through a poor ball reaction and not a user error. If THIS already distracts you, better work on your mental game and attitude

Keep positive.  

No matter who you are, you WILL leave a pocket split, something in the backrow, a fast 8, etc. etc.  Not every pocket shot will carry, not every ball reaction will be the same.  

The quicker you can tell yourself, "get the wood, every pin counts" and shrug off the poor shots, the better off you will be.  The minute you let doubt creep into your mind, you will NOT be bowling well the entirety of the day.  Bowling is infinitely more mental than physical.  Staying positive will help keep your armswing loose, among other things, and help you get optimal ball reaction.  

Know your adjustments, know the courtesy and etiquette, and have fun!  You're doing something you love, why should you be such a worry wart?
