Personally, I think it’s ridiculous.

No they should not be banned.
Urethane is another "tool of the trade" in a lot of people's bag.  The folks who want to ban urethane are most likely the ones who can't use it with any level of success or can't counter it's effects using with reactive resin. Either way, urethane is not going anywhere any time soon.

Chad got that contract extension so I guess now he feels invincible.  What a dipshit move.  Yeah because urethane is ruining bowling fap motion.  Glad they are doing something about it 40 years later.  Guess getting rid of cleaner and balance holes isn't retiring the Boomers from league fast enough so time for the big guns.  Found out my new league tonight is sanctioned after all because combined it with a stupid Vegas league.  Paying that asshat's salary now sigh.

No they shouldn't be banned.

Maybe I missed something, but who/what is talking about banning urethane?  USBC?

No one is talking about banning urethane.

After he won last tournament, Sean Rash was asked why he was the only one not using urethane on the short oil pattern. He made a joke, clearly not being serious, that he doesn't do good with urethane and thinks they should be banned.

I guess b/c it sounds controversial, people have been taking the quote of of context and turning into something it's not.

Sean Rash was making a joke.  If you banned urethane, then 75% of the balls on the house racks would be illegal.  Here's a secret .... resin balls are urethane too. 8)

I still cannot understand why the recreational bowler thinks they need a urethane ball for their wall shot league.  Unless you are bowling on short patterns or a beat to death surface, why would you even consider it?  Most of the PBA guys that use it,  have 4 or 5 of them and when the surface of the ball becomes too oily and the surface grit smooths out, they grab another one.  Most of these urethane balls are at 1000 grit and under, and they don't stay that way very long.  Those facts are always overlooked.

A short-pin resin ball would always make a better choice in my humble opinion unless you are on staff and want to carry 5 urethane balls to league  :o

The way he was wording everything made it really easy to take it out of context.  For a couple minutes he stepped on to his soapbox and made sure in his own way let everyone know that Brunswick didnt "believe in him" to keep him on staff.  He also made sure to tell everyone that he could care less about the fines for his colorful language he used during the telecast.

Personally, I like watching Rash.  He is a heck of a talent.  I am not a hater by any means.  But he is very rough around the edges per se.  He definitely could have taken a better approach to his comments after the show.  But the fact is that he doesnt care.  When he was supposedly joking; he never laughed, smiled, or acted in a way to indicate he was joking.  So I am sure the masses believe he was being pretty serious when he said that urethane should be banned as he admittedly stated he cant score well with it and therefore refuses to use it.

His new sponsor does not currently offer  a 100% urethane ball. An informed and prepared interviewer would be aware of that and not ask a pro why he's not using equipment he does not have.

Yeah guess should have held fire but not first time have heard this on here and that is exactly how the balance hole ban and even the aborted diff reduction at last minute crap avalanche started from USBC, with rumors on here.  USBC under Chad has made it clear they don't mind screwing over rec bowlers in order to keep the game pure for the pros.  I can't even use urethane on house shot but once that fool starts banning balls he won't stop.  As for Rash who cares what he says.  Its ok to watch him bowl but once he opens his mouth the walking penis in the yellow shirt comes out (million dollar talent but ten cent brain exhibit A).

Yeah, that's not true. HB Urethane is still in the line up.
