Anyone bowl the Dutchman this year?  Have any comments on the shot, format, etc?

The Dutchman confuses me, so I haven't tried it.  I've only been bowling for two years so anything with multiple types of squads that lasts months confuses me.  I recognize its my problem

Do you have to have a team to bowl it? Or at least a doubles partner?

I usually bowl in the Dutchman every year. Each year seems to be just a little bit different. In previous years the shot was usually a dry shot, with a medium-dry shot for teams in the Mt. Joy House.

This year it was more of a flat light oil shot in Palmyra that everyone I know just lit UP!! (If you are a decent bowler you should average about 240) Whereas the team shot was a medium shot that initially played like a heavy oil shot. Most of the bowlers I saw were using big pieces and getting over/under like crazy!! I was NOT one of them thank goodness!

My lowest score on the fresh shot, first game was a 201, which went steadily up from there, as we broke down the pattern. It's a pretty playable shot in both houses to me, and your scores should be high.
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

I must say I am glad to see this tournament still going. I used to live in SE PA and bowled this tournament for 4-5 years straight before I moved. It was always a fun tournament, although the rules at that time (mid to late 90's) weren't the best. Always interesting to walk in to it bowling scratch and see 920+ as the high singles score. Hard to bowl when you know before you even start you can't win, no matter what. Good luck to all of you bowling in it.

Thanks, but last weekend was the last weekend.  :)

Maybe this is why it confuses me.
