Very disappointed with the new season
« on: September 05, 2003, 09:07:00 AM »
I just finished my first week of bowling 3 different leagues for the winter season but noticed one thing that I am very disappointed with. My house is putting down much less oil than last year. I went out this summer and picked up balls that were made to handle oil slicks and this year they are far and few. Both of my first shift leagues were medium oil at best with stripped backends and tonights second shift league was med/light heads with light carrydown. Everything I have is TOO STRONG for the conditions I am seeing. Where is the oil?? Are you guys experiencing the same thing?? No wonder gas prices are high!!

How am I supposed to knock all 10 down with one ball?!?

rock77,

Sorry to hear there is no oil where you are. I had my first league night last night and I shot 753 with the Turbo Diesel and no big names, all 3 right at 250. I was able to use this ball all 3 games which very rarely happened last year. I usually had to switch to something pearlized by game 3..

I guess only time will tell for me and that house. I also bowl in a traveling league and there you never know what shot you are gonna run into..

See ya Rock..

Rock,

Be patient. Leagues always tend to start with a lighter pattern. Wait until the lanes get some use before you judge the shot they have down. You may be suprised in 3 weeks. I have always noticed a change before October from the first week of the season.

If it stays the same, then you can adjust your arsenal accordingly.

That's why we build "arsenals".  I take a 4 ball bag to league.  One oil ball I never intend to use, 1 medium skid/snap, 1 medium/dry arc, and my Blue Dot.  It fits what I'll typically see.  If you normally see heavy oil, You should still carry one medium/dry ball that gets little use.  Hopefully you didn't sell or trade all that stuff away.  The oil may pick up again.  If not, at least you'll be ready for a heavy sport shot or tournament.  Good luck.

See that is where I went wrong. I hardly ever saw lighter to dry conditions so I havent picked up a ball for that yet. Looks like I will need to purchase much sooner!!
