Vise IT Thumb Repair
« on: May 24, 2018, 10:26:15 PM »
Have a teammate who brought an IT thumb to me.  It must have given out..  it is in the ball, but just spins.  What is the best way to get this out of the ball?  Drill it out?

Thanks
Scott

The thumb spin is caused by glue failure at the bottom of the Ball It. You need something to grip the inside of the thumb it to remove it from the hole.

Yep.  I need to get through the safety Molly - which is super glued together 🤔.

If its spinning in place then as was mentioned its a failure from the glue and primer at the slug. Vise has corrected this by making new slugs with a groove in the bottom and the portion that attaches to the slug has portion that fills that groove to create a more secure slug.

To get it out, I normally take a flat blade screwdriver and rubber mallet and crack the bottom of the slug being careful not to break the Ball IT glued to the ball. If you break that you have to drill the whole thing out.

^^ worked like a charm.  Didn't appear to be unglued from slug...  Seemed to be a crack in the slug-it...  Although this could have been from the screwdriver).

Thanks.
