What does everyone think about this???
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:53:19 PM »
I just won this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270077811979&rd=1&rd=1

Well, the seller will not sell it to me, saying that it was a mistake. Maybe it was, but that's not my fault. Should I pursue this, or just let it go. Not trying to cause any trouble, but the persom immediatly sent me a message saying it was a "mistake" and there was no freakin way he was following thru. I told him, Fine, post me positive feedback, and I'll let it go. He refuused that also. I'm not the type to post negative feedback unless I get screwed over. I didn't get screwed over here, I'm out no money at all.

Sounds to me like he didn't get what he wanted out of it and is trying to re-list it in hopes of geting more cash.  I'd just send a report to E-Bay and notify them of his suspicious behavior and let them deal with it.  After that, forget it and move on.

That's basically what I did. I'll let ebay take care of it.

I would ask the guy what he wanted out of the ball... if it wasnt what I wanted to pay I would let ebay handle it and since he is close to being a power seller... it will hurt his business....

Mistake or not honor your sales!!!!

Cant ask him what he wanted for it, because that's against ebay policy also.

little note on auctions, the bidder when bidding places a binding contract to buy, the seller tho doesnt have to sell, bottom line, if they accept payment then that is one thing but if they decide not to sell then buyer is out of luck

It was obvious it was a mistake, BUT, it's the guys attitude that steamed my veggies. He sent me a message this morning trying to be apologetic. I don't plan on leaving feedback, because like i said, I didn't lose any money on this. I'll just let ebay handle it.

Let it go.  You know he didn't mean to put a buy it now option for a penny on there.

Why should you get positive feedback when there wasn't a transaction?

I had a similar experience happen to me regarding the purchase of a telescope; but in this case the outcome was acceptable to both parties.

I was looking at auctions and this item popped up.  I didn't want anyone else getting it before me, so I used Buy it Now, and paid with PayPal in a matter of seconds. The seller had made a mistake with the listing and I completed the entire transaction before she had the opportunity to correct the error.  She notified me of the error and we decided to give each other positive feedback.  Although she refunded my money, I felt bad that she had to pay commission on the item (even though it was minor due to the low price).  I offered to split the cost but she said that she felt obligated to pay because it was her error.

Steve, take the high road here and let it be. Why ruin your reputation over an obvious mistake on the part of the seller. You are better than him, remain that way.

o.k. i've let this go long enuff. that was my auction.. i listed the auction & immedietly came into ballreviews to post 2 links one in the track forum & one in the wanted/for sale forum. my exact post was "Track Heat Blast nib auction on ebay starting at .01    no reserve" well, no sooner did i post that i went back to ebay & noticed my mistake in listing the ball as a buy it now.before i could fix it, mr. rev_0 purchased it within 2 minutes of me listing it.

i immediately sent him a message saying " that was obviously a mistake in the listing..."

his reply to me was " ummm, i dont see where that's my problem."

at this point it was clear to me that this dude was trying to get something for nothing & taking advantage of a simple mistake. it was clearly stated in my posts here that this was an "auction starting at .01"

so, the next message from me was admittedly a little more on the snarky side

"where it's your problem is... we can do this the easy way or the hard way. all you can do is leave me a negative feedback which will not even move my rating, the one i leave for you will definetly move yours. your choice buddy"

this may have been a mistake but at the time i felt that this dude was trying to take advantage of the situation. probably not the smartest move on my part but..

to which he replies.. "no, i dont intend to leave you negative feedback, i'll just file a complaint with ebay about you refusing to sell it after i won the auction. IT'S NOT MY FAULT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO LIST ITEMS!!"

so i think you get the basic gist of what transpired here. the basic fact is..  yes i made a mistake in listing the auction. & YES this guy was going to absolutely try to take advantage a fellow bowler. he was not going to "let it go if i wasn't such an ass" as he stated. & the fact remains that ebay will do absolutely nothing about this & if we exchange negative feedbacks, you do come out on the short end. i have over 1100 positive transactions you have a little over 200. my negative feedback to you will hurt you worse than yours for me.

just wanted to get the truth out there

As many sales as you've apparently made, I don't feel sorry for you.  Sell him the ball for a penny if that's what he won it at.  I bet you don't make the same mistake again.

see, the point is.. that's not happening. i already have to pay listing fees & final value fees. it's just the time & effort this cat wants to put into trying to get something for nothing. which will not happen. period. i've already spoken with ebay & know the worst case senario for me. if he wants to go through a couple of months of this for absolutely nothing but a tarnished feedback rating... thats his issue

The ironic thing is that Rev-O doesn't use 16 lb equipment.  He was using 15 lb, hurt himself, switched to lefty and dropped to 14 lb.  He was probably going to turn around and immediately sell it for a profit.  Now he wants to cry because he didn't get the chance.

so basically you screwed up, and get mad at someone else for legitimately winning the auction??  Your the one who screwed up and didn't double check the listing before posting it.  For you to even consider leaving a negative feedback to a legitimate winner whose bid you refuse to honor is asinine.

It's your fault, you screwed up, and in no way should you punish Rev_O for your mistake.  Don't sell him the ball, fine, but to try and tarnish his reputation because of your screw up is totally classless.  If anything, you owe him an apology.

Mistakes happen, but to try hurt another because of your screw up?  That's low.

that was my reply to him trying to get something for nothing... i am not leaving feedback until it's left for me. i'm in the defensive mode here. he will not get a negative feedback rating unless i get one 1st. that was the whole point. i have apologised, tried to move on. he came in here telling a 1 sided untrue story dragging this thing out
