What to do, or what would you do?
« on: October 11, 2005, 07:06:46 AM »
Let me start off by saying hello, I'm a long time reader of all the posts but a first time poster!!!!!

Now here is the situation........

I have long been just a house bowler, 3 leagues a year, State tourny etc......
I've always averaged between 190-200 with one year going above 205 in 2 leagues. High averages are not the common at house I bowl at, but whenver I, or someone else bowl a tourny or at another house, averages are usually anywhere from 10-20 pins higher sometimes even more.

Well this year A friend of mine wants to put a scratch team together at another house, and this league has acap of 980 or something like that. Well 2 of the 5 of us had bowled this league last year and they had to come in with their averages of 215, 205 respectively, but they only averaged 205, and 192 in my house last year. So I guess they way they my and another guys entering average for the year, is by combining our 3 averages from last year, and taking the average of the 3..example 192,192,198=194.

Well our team ends up with entering averages of 192,194,205,215, and a 168 just to fit under the "CAP". We are now in our 5th week and our averages are 207,215,219,231 and 172. WE HAVE now set the HIGH team Series and Game, and the series I guess is the highest shot there in 5 or so years.

WEll now we are getting grief every week, about how we couldn't have been under the cap etc.. And they are doing average checks on us every week, and have even called our team captainand said we couldn't bowl the league, then changed their mind and so on.

I guess what I'm trying so say is I've always bowled for fun with a little bit of competetive drive but now that I'm averaging higher it is even funner, but everyone on the team is talking about quitting, even though we went by the leagues rules, they are just tired of the hassle and don't want to deal with it all year!!!!

Now What to do, or what would you do?

A couple of things are obvious:
1) you're bowling in an easier house than you used to.
2) the house is occupied by a bunch of whiners

The last thing I would do is quit.  Absolutely the last.  Tell them that next year they'll have their playground back because your team won't fit under the cap.  You might mention (if you have a large enough physical back up) that they bowl on an easy shot, maybe they should try a tougher house to see what bowling ought to be.
