Where did I go wrong???
« on: April 01, 2004, 10:02:33 PM »
I came back into bowling after a 5 yr lapse due to shoulder reconstruction last year. I am currently avg. 180's but last night I was having the night of my life 278,254, then it happend. The pair we were on broke down and we had to move and my game went away 165. It really bothered me that I couldnt adjust quick enough to have a good game. Maybe I havnt improved as much as I thoght I had. Has anyone else self distructed this way besides me???

I can do that (162) WITHOUT changing lanes.

Nice series. I've seen many bowlers go on the verge of a high series, but completely break down after that. For example, one kid shot in the 270s, but after that game, couldn't break 200 after that. Don't worry it happens to everyone.

Check this out.  Same thing happened at our house last year.  One guy was shooting lights out and another guy was struggling badly.

Lanes broke down. When we moved, the guy who was bowling great got mad, lost his concentration, and shot about 175, while the other guy was happy ( cause he didn't like the first pair) and went down there ans shoots 257.

I think it is mostly mental. The guy who wanted to move shot great, while the guy who wanted to stay shot lousy and blamed it on having to move.  I was bowling that night and didn't notice all that much difference in either pair.

Don't let things like this get in your head. It's just a game. Do the best you can and focus on the big things in life.

By the way, you still shot a great series. Good luck and good bowling.
