« on: April 27, 2006, 04:26:38 AM »
Hello all, my birthday is comin up within two weeks and I'm very interested in buying one of the deals from "allstarbowlingjoe."  Yet, I cant decide which is the better deal.  So here they are, can you guys help me decide?

Columbia Action and U Turn Particle Pearl: 199.00

Storm Paradigm and Pyro: 265.00

Which is the better deal?

IMHO, Action/UTPP.  Easy choice.

House Hack.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  And, according to my therapist, that's not so bad.

I'll second that.. they are both excellent balls AND about $66 cheaper (cover the costs of drilling!)..

how are these balls different?  The storm website displays lines that the ball will run on depending on what type of bowler you are, the columbia website doesnt offer that.  I like having a picture of how the ball will react.  How will the columbias compare to the storms?

I've seen the paradigm work and i liked berry much how it worked, maybe you don't need two balls, i just bought the paradigm in ebay for 140 shipped, you could save 60 bucks for later when you know your game and style a little more, also the action is kind of a versatile ball in box finish and its only 129 in bowling.com

Alright, I'm gonna piss a few people off. I say none of the above. Any columbia balls are gonna crack on you and the Storm Paradigms also crack. Don't know about the pyro. Bombs away!

If you look at his arsenal (just a Hammer Doom), then the Columbia Action would give him a medium-heavier ball and the U Turn PP would give him a medium benchmark ball. The Doom would be the skid-flip ball for medium light patterns.

If you go with the Storm pack, you're gonna have an arsenal of nothing but pearl balls and a thinner wallet. Pyro and U Turn are similar, but the Action, with a solid coverstock and some surface is the deal maker.

I will say right off, I do not like Columbia, for myself, but it is a better deal, you could do more with them and what you have, they are cheaper and I think you'll like the package better once you have them.

no offense but at 160 avg. buy a plastic ball and take a lesson from a coach on a spare shooting system. practice it.surface your current ball for your league shot.

total cost about 100 bucks

take the other 100 bucks and use it for practice funds.

and your avg will go up to 180.

otherwise you are wasting your money. so if you insist on buying a ball then get the one for 199.

I would suggest a track solituin ex. about 150 drilled at most places.YMMV
and track can use the profits to hire a good website designer.

just a note, the passion can be substituted for the paradigm so that would put the storm option fighting solid vs pearl to the fact that storm has the stronger solid compared to the action, i'd take the storm pack, its a good deal and the balls are good, also in the newer batches 7 paradigms and passions have been sold close to were i live and they haven't had any cracking problems!
