white pattern 1
« on: April 03, 2014, 06:16:12 PM »
I'm bowling pittsburghs cities men's tournament on sunday  I was told they are using the white USBC pattern but I have been told its beenn really dry. This is why I am thinking its #1.  I have never bowled on this.  Where have you all played on this pattern and what have you used equipment wise.  I was thinking bringing a freeze, a razor wire at4000, an IQ pearl, and my bobcat (great on dry and for spares). Thanks for any input.

White #1 is a pretty light oil amount, 18 ml per lane.

Outside is still pretty much THS dry, inside has oil but the ratio is slightly less than house amounts. That means you can get away with some pulls inside of target but not huge amounts. With singles, doubles and 5 man team, many states oil between singles & doubles and Teams. If they don't re-oil, the 3rd squad can be very brutal. Better have lots of ball speed or a plastic strike ball.

I bowl on White (not sure if it's #1 or not) on my Tuesday night league, and I had been frustrated all season with how dry it was, as the season has gone on, I finally found some equipment that handles it decently, using a 900 Global Hook (Red/Yellow) to start, and a polished Track 300T after the pattern goes a bit, over the last few weeks my scores have been coming up a bit, and even hit a 300 this past week on it, which I would have never guessed by how I was doing early in the season, it's not too bad for 2-3 games, (we use 5 person teams), but past that, yeah I'd be looking for a urethane maybe for sure.
