Who knows about Black Gold?
« on: July 17, 2003, 05:26:43 AM »
The center where I do most of my bowling is now using the Neotac Black Gold lane conditioner.  They just "screened" the lanes, which I gather is a step short of resurfacing.  The lanes are wood.  The lane man told me that the lanes are likely to be inconsistent for 3 or 4 weeks after the screening process, especially in light of the sparse summer play.  If anyone out there can offer any info on what to expect out of Black Gold after the lanes "settle down" I'd really like to hear about it to help me make my equipment plans.  I don't bowl in enough different places to have a handle on how the various different conditioners compare.  I don't even know what this place was using before.  They are tight-lipped with the info about the lanes for some reason.  I'm surprised that I was told that they are using Black Gold.  The lane man was surprised that I knew that it was a Neotac product.  He acted like he let  slip a state secret.

At the recommendation of two other synthetic house managers, I helped convince my house's owner into trying out Black Gold, and I must say that he was impressed with the Black Gold.  My center's owner tries every new oil that comes out on the market, always looking for something better, but lately he had finally settled in on Black Gold and Black Gold HV (High Viscosity) as two of the best oils out there.  Black Gold DOES NOT CARRYDOWN, although you see what appears to be carrydown on the backends.....what is carrying down is some of the additives rather than the oil itself, and the carrydown is not slick.

Myself, I personally like Black Gold, and now I know of 3 center owners in my general area (all 3 synthetic houses) that like the Black Gold too.
