bones,
The XXXL is smooth off of the dry, no overreaction or early hook. As with any ball, if you are on a complete desert it will hook, but it will remain playable when everything else you have will not. The strong core in my opinion does nothing for the hook of the ball, it hooks about the same as any other plastic ball, maybe a hair more. The core makes this ball hit with the power and authority of a reactive.
I am not one of those Lane1 fans that throw nothing but Lane1. I liked what I saw and what I heard of this ball and decided to pick one up. It is drilled 4x4, so in now way is it a weak drill. This is the ball that I dreamed for a long time. When the oil is gone and everything else in the bag is hooking too much, this ball allows me to square up at 8-10 board. I can do this with almost any other plastic ball----however if my speed is up I am going to leave 8-10s out of the rear (or maybe even 5-10s).
I have alot of ball speed but I am currently working no not sliding and it has cut my speed down from 20-21mph down to about 17-18. So if someone has slower speed this ball will still be playable with a couple of board swing.
I suggest it to anyone that needs a plastic ball with punch. It rolls cleanly and does not jump violently----which is what just about anyone who is bowling on conditions where everything else is nose diving.
