wierd lanes
« on: February 16, 2004, 01:54:32 AM »
Yesterday I bowled my travel league @ Tomball bowl in texas. The first set we were on the low end and had a inside tube shot. The second set we moved to the high end 21-22 and as we are talking I happen to look out towards the lanes we are fixing to be bowling on and low and behold the damn things are bowed up. I could see a good 3-4 inch rise from the side of the lanes and the ones next to it were the same. The bow started around 2-3 feet before the arrows and continued about 10-12 feet down the lane. "the bow ran long ways and was the whole width of the lane" The first few practice balls was a trip, it seemed as if the lane was jumping out @ you and got a little getting use to. When you would watch other people throw thier ball it was like watching a roller coaster go up then down. I did notice I had difficulty lofting the ball and trying to get the ball through the heads. Has any one ever seen this before. I know some of the guys were saying it was from an expansion or add on that didn't work out to good. I thought lanes had to meet certain criteria to be sanctioned. But what do I know.

Ahh.  My typical league night.  You have to pick a line that avoids the areas where the lane surface is torn to shreds and make it work regardless of where the oil happens to be.

Bones I guess that explains the 5 splits in a row, The head pin was like a magnet. Pretty much had to throw the ball hard as hell to avoid the tractor beam to the nose. Needles to say I was wore out from throwing the ball hard and staying mentaly aware of what was going on. I ended up doing some nice average adjustment that shift. It was definatly a learning experience for all of us and hope to never catch that end of the house again.
