I am heading up a Sunday night Scratch league.  It will be past PBA tournament shots, with a different shot every week.  It will be scratch as I said and singles play.  I am excited about this and I hope that we have a big turnout.  We have 18 signed up so far but I don't expect more than ten to commit.

If you wouldn't bowl this league please tell me why.  I would like to know.  It will cost $5.50 a week, no prize fund and it is only 12 weeks long.  

I you like this idea please tell me why.

I like the thought of keeping the same shot for a couple of weeks.  However, we are only running the league for 12 weeks.  It is a trial to see if the interest s there to run a longer league next year.  Personally, I want the pattern to change every week b/c I need to learn to read the initial lane condition better.  I have been to many, many tournaments were I could have scored if I played the lanes correctly to start with.  

SrKegler, leave to the senior crowd to complain about change.  It doesn't surprise me one bit that you want a rounded figure, however you are NOT a cheap bowler b/c you want to raise it 50 cents.

This league will be singles play.  I don't think we will have a prize fund but that will be voted on during the meeting Sunday.  I would like to give the first place guys something.  I don't know what, maybe a trophy for bragging rights.

yea that would deffentily be something i would love to bowl in. i like bowling on harder shots to challenge myself and see how good i actually am. you got a nice lenght to the league and the price is great. glad to hear you got a decent amount of people to bowl in it. hope your league turns out good.

I am reading it we have a league just like that every summer.  Wish I could just get them to do it year round.  Last year we had almost 40 guys.  We gave away bowling balls that the center donated to us and all kinds of stuff.  People around here are begging for scratch leagues.  Shot is very fair.  Fair enough that even on the house shot a 190 average can have you competing with the best in the area.  Talking to the local association secretary he tells me that of the averages turned in Jan 1.  Highest he saw was 213.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.

As Phatdon said, we had a good time and everyone found what bowling is really about.  We didn't have too many crybabies but we did have a couple.  I didn't do overly well, but thats alright.  I only missed the pocket once the last game, no carry.  I liked the looks on everyones face when they threw the first shot.  IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
