would you sign up???
« on: June 14, 2005, 06:09:33 PM »
I just got a flyer today for a local seminar. It's for 8 hours over 4 weeks, taught by Ernie Schlegel.

mumzie,  I'd have to see the flyer before making a decision on it.  What is he going to cover in the seminar?  Ernie's a great competitor/bowler, but what is his coaching background?

Probably not.

I’m not a Ernie fan, I don’t know of any reputation for being a good instructor, and my style doesn’t match up with his.

Ernie has style?  When did he get it?

Mumzie, I'd probably sign up just to listen to Mr. Fruit Salad BS for a while.  But you can get that anyway, being there.  Now, if he would teach me the fall back shot it might be worth it.

No no, that's the Guppy Troupe seminar.

To answer the original question, I probably wouldn't sign up.  I generally prefer one on one coaching sessions that group seminars (with the exception being the traveling Ritger camp).  And like Pinbuster said, I've never heard of him having a great rep as an instructor.

It's being held at Bailey's lanes in Vancouver, Washington, I believe. I'll get the info tomorrow and post.

Ernie is an interesting fellow - for those who don't know him. He can talk for hours about the game of bowling - but I, for one, never know which direction his conversation is going to go. I'm not too sure he does, either.

If he has a defined format for the course, AND STICKS TO IT, it could be a VERY good investment.

He can also teach you how to file out your thumbhole an dump the filings in someone's bowling bag.
