wrongly placed thumb hole....
« on: May 11, 2007, 12:59:37 PM »
so came home today from throwing about 8 games...and my middle finger was hurting pretty good....so i put my fury next to my sr300...which fits me perfect...and the thumb hole was about 1/2" right of where it should be...on the SR it's directly between my fingers...

i feel really umcomfortable throwing the ball...and my finger hurts...i'm assuming because i have to use more pressure with my middle finger due to misplaced thumb...

or is this not the cause?

Was the ball just drilled new for you or is it a used one
thats not been redrilled to fit you?

Take it to the shop and have it checked. If the thumbhole is off.
Its not letting you grip the ball right and is loading up pressure on your
finger.

don't think that's the drill i specified earlier...after looking at the drill sheet on big B's site...supposed to be the 1L late drilling...

I assume your left handed.

that looks closer to the 2E layout (Medium Oil).
Than the 1L layout (Heavy Oil).

The best thing is to take it back to the proshop,
along with your SR300.

Have the grip checked and compare the two.

If you're not left-handed, I can see why it hurts!  The driller should pay for that!

yeah, he drilled the fury off of looking at my sr300....so...not sure where he went wrong...but...this blows...and not even the right drilling....handed him my sheet...showed him the 1L...and he never handed the sheet back to me...and i didn't really memorize the drill pattern...so...that's my fault for not knowing right there...but.

no wonder my ball starts gripping at my feet.

i will definitely be going back there next week...hopefully i can catch the other driller instead of the old man...he was not that friendly at all...and the other guy...actually talks...asks question...and is knowledge about balls....

Well, its not like the driller accidentally put it to the left. There was probably a mis judgment on the span when he put the finger holes in. If your spans were say, 4 1/2 and 4 3/8 when you drill the fingers you would need to make sure the ring finger is exactly 1/8 higher than the middle finger, then you can drill the thumb strait down. If he put the fingers in a strait line(both on the same strait line after drilling) he would need to off set the thumb to get the spans right. Its not that big a deal, there might be a slight pitch problem on your middle finger causing the pain..? Or maybe he just completely missed lol, I don't know. Just saying the reason for that would be to correct the span.
