You want 450+ people to pay $2,000 to bowl a bowl 4 game drop 1 handicap tournament?

It's not even a million dollars cash.   All of the prizes are based on annuity with a cash option.   This smells of a scam right off the bat.

I doubt it's a scam personally, however from looking at the website, it looks like the founder took some ideas from a tournament that's being hosted in my area this weekend (http://www.proprietorscup.com/The-Proprietors-Cup.aspx) and made some changes to it. Looks like there's some details with it that still need to be worked out, but the concept is interesting. It will be hard to get that many entries, if this is indeed the first year of the tournament, but if this tournament has moderate success I could see it growing. If poker players drop $10,000 on the main event every year, it's not as far fetched to think that bowlers would drop $2,000 on a tournament for a chance to win big money.

Poker is a very LUCRATIVE endeavor. Bowling is just bowling, & if you make a few $$$ off it, cool. No comparison.

Feel free to call the number on the site and you can speak to the man directly. You have an individual trying to do something extraordinary for the sport and people are so quick to denounce it. Perhaps it's this negative attitude that has kept the game anchored in laughing status and not taking very seriously. I have great respect for poker players and their patience and mental toughness. Bowling is a physical sport requiring patience and mental toughness. Bowling can and needs to return to its glory days of respect and prestige. You won't get back there competing for peanut shells.

Sandbagging delight.  All the professional sub 200 average sand baggers will be in attendance.

Sorry but this is a joke of a tournament, don't care how much money you can win.

Please a bowl 4 and drop 1 tournament.  Why don't you make it a mixed scotch doubles or something else that is silly.

Add in the fact that it will take you 20 years to get your million dollars is just plain asinine.  $2,000 to win a million, you better have the million dollars up front and ready for the winner.   None of this lottery stuff where you wait all your life.  If somebody won a tournament, they won it with their skill and need to be rewarded properly.

Beermug, by posting this so many times, you, yourself have denounced this tournament.  One post with a TTT every now and then would have been fine.

Wish I could find the iggy button.

Hey Stan, it's been posted once in each REGIONAL FORUM. You know so people looking for tournaments within their region can see it.

On the prizes and breakdown there's no breakdown of the $2000 entry fee, like how much that goes to the prizefund, lineage, etc.

Wow they'll issue you a credit card or give you a Personal Loan with a 12 monthly payments (Finance Company Issued) to pay for your entry.

Does that mean the tournament will be held in multiple regions then. So there's one local to that region?

The gentleman running this tournament has plans to have this tournament in other locations around the country. This is the first one and with anything is usually the hardest to get up and running. There are airports in each region as well. The point is to advertise this tournament to attract bowlers all across the country.

I read the first 2 rules and knew that I wanted no part of this - especially #2:

Quote
1)    Millionaire Classic is open to Men, Women, and Seniors.  Juniors are welcomed, but they bare all responsibility to verify their eligibility from any sanctioning bodies and if under 18 years of age must provide written parental approval.

Not sure that naked juniors at a bowling tournament would be considered a good thing...... :o

Quote
2)     Millionaire Classic is an Amateur Singles Handicapped Bowling Tournament consisting of 4 games bowled across 2 lanes. Scoring only the highest 3 games, adding the 80% handicap from 200 to each of the 3 highest games to = the tournament score submitted for prize awarding.  Pro Bowler Rule: NO former or present PBA members, and/or non-members whom we may determine to be professionals, are not eligible to enter the Millionaire Classic.

No pros are NOT eligible - therefore, pros ARE eligible.  Either pros are not eligible and this is a mistake, or they are eligible but he tried to make it look as if they weren't eligible.

If you're running a million-dollar plus tournament, you'd better make sure the legalese is correct.

How do you determine someone to be professional?
I am an amateur bowler, always have been, always will be. Just cause I bowl with the big boys of the sport every now and then does not put me at there level.

Bowling is just bowling????...huh? That's gotta be one of the more retarded things I've heard someone say. Bowling is not just bowling where I am from. I actually give this founder props for at least trying to bring big money back into bowling. Is there things I would change about it, sure just like what people have already mentioned. It's pretty silly though to throw out "conspiracy theories" when this obviously is the first year of this tournament. I'll wait for more info to come out before I make any kind of judgements on it.

This tourn is doomed to fail.  I can't see dropping 2 grand on 4 games with handicapping coming from 200.  Make it scratch and have it be a more lengthy format.  Any squirrel can find a nut, but the one who finds the most nuts survives.  It's a great idea, but not thought out and the format is BS.
