x-out balls not permited in tournaments?
« on: March 08, 2008, 01:45:16 PM »
i have heard from the local guys that they were unable to use an kind of x-out bowling balls, at least here in toronto canada, is the same in the states?

if i think that this is not a fair judgement, how should i go about it?
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

As far as I know, X outs are legal for use in USBC and PBA competition.

First I've heard of it.  Do they go by USBC rules?  You said Toronto, I don't know if they use the USBC rules or FIQ or some other organization, but if they are using USBC rules and the tournament itself doesn't have a rule explicitly banning X-out balls, then they are legal, so long as they meet the static weight requirements.

There are plenty of non-approved balls, they are specifically and individually listed on the bowl.com website.  X-outs in general are not non-approved, they are simply balls with odd pins and higher- or lower-than-normal top weights.

well i checked the canadian tenpin federation website and it says anything that usbc has approved

from the official website:
Bowling Ball – Approval**
Bowling balls used in CTF competition shall:
1. Meet USBC equipment specifications at time of manufacture.
2. Be USBC approved.
3. Meet the following USBC specifications.

and rechecking bowl.com i dont see anything related to x-out balls
