Your favorite houses THS
« on: February 15, 2008, 04:12:02 PM »
I just found out today that my regular house I go to has a 45' pattern. I found this to be a lot longer than most that I have heard of. Was wondering how normal this is??

I think most houses go 40'.  I have known of some that have gotten shorter to 38'and even 35'.  Once summer, the house I bowled at went to a 45', and people loved it.  300's were tougher to shoot, but the scores were higher all together.

I'm told our house has five patterns, each a foot longer than the other (starting with 37 feet). I think the total volume is a little different on each. They seem to rotate them, a fact I happen to like. Keeps things interesting.

Yes, I'd consider 45 feet to be outside the bounds of "normal" THS. I bowled at a house a couple of years ago that used 43 feet -- and also happened to have an extreme wall at the 10 board, so it was very wet/dry and whatever oil they used moved all over the place. Pretty tough little shot.
