Zero Gravity = Hyper Cell ?
« on: December 27, 2013, 10:27:02 PM »
I never had a Cell and was wondering if it was equal to the original Virtual Gravity ? With that being thought about. Would the Hyper Cell be equal to the Zero Gravity ? Both originals seem to have been very sucessful. I'm thinking you couldn't go wrong with either. Thanks for any positive input. Carlos

The hyper cell should have a way stronger cover than the zg.

I don't know about the strength of the covers to each other, but the Zero Gravity has a reduced differential and higher RG than the regular Virtual Gravity.  The difference in numbers is significant!

Substantial how? Does this mean that the ZG will go longer and be more angular?

Great question!

I haven't seen it.  The core is the same shape as the original but I guess the densities are different.

Most of the balls I have that have that type of same core shape but higher rg lower diffs, have ended up having less midlane when drilled the same as the original.
The smaller diff has often led to less total recovery.  All these thoughts based on the same drilling.

I may have mentioned I have a son who has a very nice and unsung Hot Rod Super Sport Pearl(now dull) with very similar specs as the new ZG.  He uses it as quite a one two punch with his original Virtual Gravity.

Don't see it. Just the ball specs are so different.

Hyper Cell has lower RG, higher RG differential, higher Intermediate differential and the particle coverstock (for greater oil handling, earlier lane "bite" and smoother backend) from the Defiant. Plus it starts off with a rougher surface, 2000 grit vs the ZG's 4000 grit.

Zero Gravity has higher RG, lower RG Differential, lower intermediate differential and plain, but still strong  resin coverstock.

Just from that alone, it would appear that the HP is designed for true heavy oil and speed dominant players, while the ZG is designed for medium to medium-heavy oil and more more matched or rev dominant players.

+1 with Charlest.

Also, the Zero Gravity will be more usable on THS and driller friendly. With asyms, normally, it's low RG's and High Diffs to get the ball rolling earlier and the cover is tweaked to help the ball save energy. In this case, as with the BYTE, the RG is raised and Diff is lowered to help the ball save energy thru the core. It should be a step up from the Byte.
The Hyper Cell is your typical oiler with a strong cover and core. And of course the "My Hyper Cell doesn't hook" or "My Hyper Cell died" threads will start some time soon. However, let's understand, if you don't have the oil, the Hyper Cell will burn up and appear not to hook.

You can use a ball as long as it is on the approved list and Hyper Cell has been on the list for a couple months actually.

The Hyper Cell will be more ball than the Zero a better comparison would be the Nano...assuming because of the cover with particle. I love the look of the Zero Gravity and I think we'll be seeing a lot of it, ball is more bowler and driller friendly

only throw it 4 times so far. and that was on  old wood lanes it hook early.  Saving it for up coming tournaments. I live in a small town so I bowl league on wood lanes.
