Awesome Flip...
« on: August 30, 2006, 05:44:49 AM »
I'm looking to get one for my THS league, and I see few reviews, but everyone seems to like it.  It seems to handle a med condition pretty well.  I have a slower speed, but more than average revs, and saw the control drilling (general) layout on the website.  Has anyone seen this drilling in action?  I imagine it would slide more (helping my speed, i average about 15mph) and flare more in the backend.  Any info?

If you're just looking at the picture and the pin and mb in relation to the thumb and fingers I would suggest either not drilling it, or finding out whether your pro can lay it out properly for you.  You should notice measurements on the diagrams.  These measurements are distances from the pin to your pap, the mb to your pap, and the height above the midline.  Height above midline is very self explanitory as the midline is just the point equidistant from each of your fingers and your thumb.

A PAP on the otherhand is a bit more technical.  One's pap is measured by a process of a couple steps.  Trace your track on ball that has either been thrown to where it has oil rings ( the oil ring thats the closest to your grip on a ball that flares) or that has a track worn into the ball.  Place a specially designed device called an armadillo onto the ball and match up the lines on the device to your track.  Make a marking where the device specifies.  finally take a quarter scale and measure over and up from your midline to the marking and measure the distance.  It should give a distance over and sometimes up/down.  You should also have a knowledgeable ball driller that knows what different pin to pap and mb to pap distances do.  Also take into account tilt, ball speed, and rpms just to name a couple things.
