Drilling Question
« on: May 14, 2006, 03:22:59 PM »
My PAP is >5 ^1/2 (not measured in a few years)... avg speed at 10 feet is 17.8, rev rate 325-350... Visited the link below but was wondering... Can I put the pin 3 in instead of 2 in above midline for Sharp break? I am not a driller... I lay out my own symetrical D/T stuff... Looking at trying a S&A and S&D over the Summer. I have seen many threads that point to this midline distance as crucial... Need an Assym Pearl to fill a hole first... Thanks for any input.

Being that you are using symmetrical stuff, I think putting the ball 2 inches to the midline with your PAP is going to get the ball rolling too soon.  It tends to lead to a roll out type of backend reaction.  I think if you want the ball to rev quicker,go pin 3 inches above midline, adjust your pin to PAP distances.  If you want "sharp break", layouts like 5 x 3 using the target weighting for a weight hole will give you a good backend reaction.  I do not think that pins down below your fingers are going to give you the reaction you are looking for.  If your PAP was more like 4 > 1/2^, pin below would help you out.  Once you get to 5 inches and longer from PAP, need to get the pin above the fingers to help conserve energy for that "sharp break" on the backend.

Forgot to ask... does Morich release "Pro-CG" balls? I am inclined to say yes since they spin each one seperately right?

Maybe I'm a little behind, but I don't know what you mean by "Pro-CG" balls.  All MoRich balls are individually spun so the MB is closer to being exact.  As far as the drilling--Morich says to use a 3 3/8x5 1/4x2--straight from the drilling charts.  IMO it appears you roll the ball a little slower so I'd probably go with a 3 7/8x5x3. IMO the 5x3 would give you a little more forward roll on the back-end. Also, you might consider a Awesome Flip if you are just looking for back-end reaction--that ball is a monster.  Hope this helps.

Yeah the spinning only refers to finding the mb of a ball.  A pro cg ball is a ball with pins inexcess of 5" from the pin.  To my knowledge if they are released, they are not specially made.  The only way you might be able to find them is if you look for blems and check the pin to cg distance.

I was referring to CGs that are offset left or right... versus straight line... I live in "Storm" country only an hour from the factory... I keep forgetting they are the only company that refers to large pin-outs and cg offsets as "Pro-Pin' or "Pro-CG", instead of "Blem", "X-Comp", etc...sorry for the curveball... good stuff and thanks bowlin', balls and 2hands!
