Mayhem or Total Annialation?
« on: November 06, 2004, 09:25:17 PM »
Hey guys.

Been off the site for a while and kind of away from bowling. (was busy w/lookin at/a[[lyin to college.) When i came back i pulled out my throttle and realized not only is the pin cracked but the core is also. Now i'm lookin for a replacement. I have an ultimate inferno drilled up for medium heavy's but not true heavy oil and i want something particle as it seems to carry better for me at some tournament houses for the high school season. Which of these two beasts would you recommend? This will be my first morich ball and i'm looking foreward to trying one, just wanna make sure i pick the right one.

So basically i'm looking for you morich guru's to shed some light on this for me. Thancks in advance guys!

Mayhem is a particle, the "TA" is a reactive. So if you are looking for a particle, either get the Mayhem, or wait until the new ball comes out, the WMB (Weapon of Mass Bias).

Both the UI and the TA have those enhanced solid resin covers that make them emulate particle. While the TA can probably be drilled for more backend, due to its core dynamics, I wonder if it can handle more oil than the UI which can handle a lot of oil. Of course, stronger drillings on the TA might enable to handle more. Its potentiality has not been fully documented as it is fairly new.

I think the Mayhem might handle more oil than either one. The new Morich "bomb", WMB, is an unknown right now.

charlest,
The way my UI is drilled it really isn't the oiler many claim it to be. But that's FOR ME with a particular drilling. Basically it's my control ball for heavier wet/dry's and it works wonders in the role. It also works well on heavier oil with flying backends because it tames down the backend, but it needs a good amount of head oil to do this. The reason's you stated are basically why i'm in between the two balls, no one has really compared the two mano e mano.

Also, what makes you think the mayhem will handle more oil? Just the fact that it's a true particle ball? I'm not disagreeing b/c that was my initaial impression, just wondering where you came to that conclusion from.

Thancks again guys

A few things -
It is a medium-high load of particles with a very strong core, It comes pretty dull, I've seen it used, Mo says so ().

Mike,

If you have any doubts, do not jump. As a school-goer, I'm sure your resources are limited. Get the ball you are 100% positive about AND only when you're ready.

charlest, that's exactly the reason that i love this site, the wealth of information that is available. I know most don't throw morich as it's a smaller company, at least locally, so this site becomes all the more valuable in gaining infomation about these bowling balls as i've never drilled one.

Thancks to everyone who's replied, and i'll let you know how it works out with whatever choice i end up making (hoping to hear from king of the mill before i decide). Thancks guys.

The TA is a wonderful ball. That being said---with what your asking, the Mayhem is the right fit. I have them both and they are drilled similar (not exactly the same). The Mayhem is a good 3-4 boards stronger than the TA. When I say 4 boards, it has more to do with when the ball rolls than the way it hooks. The TA is an awesome Typical House Shot ball. Reads medium oil very, very well and doesnt seem to be super rediculous when it touches dry. The Mayhem is the ball you want however to fight heavy oil or if you are having problems with a really wet/dry pattern---you can throw this in the oil and it will still roll and hit. The TA wont.

Just my 2 cents.
