Need Layout Suggestions for LevRG Response
« on: February 03, 2010, 06:51:52 AM »
Hi. Just picked up a #13 LevRG Response off EBay today and was looking for some layout suggestions to compliment my #13 Awesome Hook. The AH is drilled 5 x 4 with a balance hole at the p3 spot. My pap is 5 1/2 x 1/4 up. The surface right now is 500 abralon, no polish. This ball makes a hard arc to the pocket as long as I can find enough oil to get it far enough down the alley. I wanted the Response to be the next step down from the Hook. I'm thinking of going with a 5 1/2 pin to pap and 4 1/2 mb to pap. What I don't want to do is have the ball go too long. BTW the reason I'm throwing #13 stuff is due to a nagging shoulder/arm joint problem which I need to fix when the season is over. I'm sticking to MoRich because, I think, the #13 balls still have a real performance core in them. Most of the other manufactuers won't even print the specs for #13 balls. Thanks in advance.

The cover on the response is very aggressive especially at 500.  I would try to take it to 2000 or 4000 before I plug and redrill it.

I was describing how my Awesome Hook is drilled. Not the Response, which is new and undrilled. I'm looking for the Response to be a good step down from the Hook.

I dissagree with the Lev. REsponse coverstock being aggressive. I find my coverstock very smooth and not jumpy off the dry. I have a double dual angle drilling when the ball hits the hole it crushes the pins. I have the coverstock at 2000 finish.

I have my Responses drilled 50x4x40 and 75x5x25.  Response 1 is pretty angular and would be a step down from an awesome hook at 500.  Response 2 hooks very little with this drilling.

I posted the same question over on BowlingChat in Mo's forum and he suggested a 60* / 4 1/4" / 40* drilling. That would put it about in the middle of your 2 Responses. UPS should be delivering the ball today and I'll be drilling it up tonight and trying it out tomorrow night.
