Ravage and Labyrinth mini-reviews...
« on: May 21, 2004, 05:40:22 PM »
Had both balls drilled yesterday...see profile for details.

Lane conditions...medium with carrydown, oil pushed around pretty good.

Ravage...comes off my hand with good revs, gets through the heads easily, goes longer than any other ball I have with the exception of the plastic, when it finds dry it makes a good move to the pocket.  This one is going to be a keeper for when the lanes begin to burn up!!!

Labyrinth...Morich advertises this one as a light to medium oil ball, I would say medium to heavy is more like it, ball seemed to roll up early but made a strong arcing move...will have to try it on an oilier condition before I can give a good assessment.

I had the Labyrinth. No way on God's heaven nor on our earth that this ball is for light anything. Medium is the weakest oil pattern I would ever use it one. Its forte is medium-heavy oil patterns.
This ball has a very strong mid-lane action and a very continuous backend, Unless, for some unknown reason, you wanted to weaken this ball with weird drillings.

Keep this ball clean as you can, as it has an older Columbia particle coverstock, Keep it clean with such as, Clean and Dull, regularly and you have as good a ball as is made today, by anyone.

Don't limit yourself to drier lane conditions with the Ravage.  Play with the cover some and you will find you can use it on a multitude of lane conditions.

BTW, I agree with both of you on the Lab!  That ball is too much for anything less than medium oil patterns.

Mini-review, Part II...

Went back last night...a little heavier oil condition but still far from being a "flood" and from looking at the oil tracks on the lanes, it had had lots of play "down the middle".

Ravage...did not handle this condition as well as the lighter condition on Friday, had to play a much more direct line because the ball wouldn't "make the turn" due to the carrydown...will stick by what I said about this ball being good for drier lane conditions despite what is being said in another post.

Labyrinth...now this was a condition that this ball was made for...being a "down and in" player and with most of the oil having been pushed to the outside of the lane due to lots of "down the middle" play, the Labyrinth had no trouble finding its way through the oil and making a very strong arc to the pocket...definitely a good ball for heavier oil and/or reverse block type conditions.

If you were to sand your Ravage with 600-1000 wet sand (depending on your game) you would find that Ravage would handle the oil very well.  But if you now have two balls that can cover that many different conditions, then there is probably no need to do that.  Good luck with both balls, I think you will love the even rolling Laby on heavy oil...  If you need any support or have any questions, don't hesitate to PM or post a message...  Thank you for the support...  The entire company really appreciates it.
