S & D in Heavy Oil Tournament
« on: April 17, 2007, 05:40:49 AM »
This weekend I shot in a tournament in Newark NJ.  This was my first encounter with HEAVY oil in a tournament, this was more of a crazy sport shot than even heavy oil.

I took my S&D out of the bag with its 1200 smooth box finish.  I had been bouncing back and forth between this and my no mercy.  I pulled it out and was laying down around 13 and rolling it out to it's breakpoint of about 4 and SNAP, this puppy came back with full force.  I was really impressed with it's recovery.  Later in the day I shot doubles and pulled this out for my second game of doubles, this is where it struggled a bit.  It had a nice line but the carry down really hurt this ball.  It surprised me because it's particle but it washed out a bit.

Team event on sunday, I took it down to 500 grit abralon the night before, it started off great and created a nice line, but once carry down ensued, this ball struggled.  I finished up with my No Mercy.  I shot 195 173 233, the first 2 games with my S&D.

In the end, if you find a heavy oil shot I would use the S&D to create a nice line for something that would otherwise struggle in the oil.  Once you see it have trouble recovering switch to something with more back end to handle carrydown (for me it was the No Mercy) and it should work great.  I was very pleased with what this ball did for me on a heavy pattern!

Just sharing my thoughts, hope this helps you guys!

The Seek is the ONLY oiler I have ever trully loved. That is why I have 2 drilled up and 2 NIB's sitting around.
