S&D cover
« on: January 23, 2006, 12:29:19 PM »
I thought that the S&&D and the WMB had the exact same cover at a different grit, like the TA and the TS&A.  However the Morich page of covers has:

quote:

C4 Enhanced Reactive with Particle (S&D)

quote:

C4 Enhanced MoRich Particle (WMB)

Perhaps this is merely a matter of semantics, but if there is a difference, can somebody tell me the difference, ie: particle load, different reactive base, different particle? Thanks

.054 vs. .044 diff.

.5 second spin time differential.

500 matte vs. 1200 smooth.

Added torque cap on the S&D.  Lotsa differences between the two with similar coverstocks.

the TA is C4 Enhanced

the WMB is the TA cover w/ particle

The TSA is C4 Enhanced w/ additives (different than the TA...tweaked)

The S&D is the TSA cover w/ particle....

there is your difference

plus mb strengths and flip block locations (on the vanguard peices)

Thanks Jeffrevs.  I know the differences in the core design, anybody can look at the differential, the rg, the spin time, and the mb differential.  These differences are obvious as is the oob surface prep.  I happen to have an S&D and love it.
The covers are the grey area.  Other than what the company says about the cover, pearl/solid, particle loads, and hardness, there is no real universal characterization.  Other than throwing, lets say, the xxxcel and the TS&A one cannot differentiate between the covers.  In one company, especially if you are experienced with that company, one can guestimate, rather accuratly, the differences in cover as to the spot at which the cover reads the lane, and how well it hooks in oil/dry.
One more thing, does anyone know how the C4 enhanced pk 18 is different in the TS&A and the TA? Does the TS&A have a stronger cover?  Also what load of particle is the WMB and/or the S&D?

Personally, I liked the WMB better than the S&D... and usually I prefer skid/flip equipment?!?!

I do not think that my questions were excessive.  I just wanted to know whats the difference in the covers.  I figured that asking all the questions at once would save time rather than asking them at separate times.  Needless threads are really annoying as are replys like this

Knowing that they are different covers is useful, and thanks once again Jeffrevs, but I still would like to know what is the diference in terms of reaction between them?  And what particle loads are the WMB and S&D?
